theres a programme on tv tonight talking about how a certain computer game (no names _ahem_ g*a,c if ya can guess) has made some people go and kill someone. of course, its really sad that they did, i dont see how anyone could possibly do a thing like that, but im asking you people, can computer games influence your behaviour?
i personally think they cant, but there might be some sort of psycological thing involved here, i just want to know what other people are thinking.
its a horrible thing those people did, i feel really sorry for the families of the victims.
o yea, just to make this point clear, i know almost nothing about this just now,im going to watch the programme and learn about it.
if you want to lock this thread, go ahead, im just wondering what peoples opinions are.

I don't think video games cause it most of the time if its a game it just helps the psychosis(hope i spelt that right) along. most people that kill people are pretty messed up to start with.

There is no proof that any video game has been the cause of someone killing themselves. It doesn't happen, if they say it does well they're making an excuse. No game I've ever played made me want to get up an shoot someone.

when humans can get this ####ed up over nothing , then video games have nothing to do with it.

blaming video games for mental illness is ludicrous

(I agree that keeping them away from schizophrenics might be a good idea..
..but in the end.. its the schpphrenic's problem that he thinks that way;
its not a problem with the game)

I agree with you guys comepletely. Video games are in NO WAY responsible for the mental illness suffered by these people. Sure it can be the catalyst to a physical episode, (such as a seizure) but that requires a tendancy that is obviously already in place. Yes it can affect your emotions, but this can be both bad (as in getting a bit mad at a game) or GOOD. (like when a game moves you to tears) That is the great thing about games, they can affect our emotions just like any other art form.

:s10:

Although you "may" get in annoyed mood if you badly loose a match or something.  Thats about as bad as it gets for me.  :;):  And even then its not very bad.  For someone to kill another, he's gotta be a pretty sick person from the start.  Not by playing hours of video games...
