America's Army

...Is not made by the Army directly, IIRC.  There are just some Army officers that advise the (contracted) developers on Army specifics.

 Obviously the military has a primary function, and you need to understand what you're getting into.

i was concidering studying for my pilots licence via the Royal air force, passed all the exams and tests to start it off but at the end ogf the day thats what put me off. i just wouldnot want to go in to that carear just for free education. even if it is costing my £65k

I think if the Canadian government were to issue a budget toward a Canada's Army video game, it would be about $96 (American) and it would utilize the ol' Atari 2600 'ET' game engine *LOL*. They [Atari] forked over a pretty cent to have Canada take the bulk of those excess cartridges- might as well make good use of 'em, eh?

TBK- 2-bit sprite :laugh:

My taxpaying money is still going to it's development, regardless.  :D

Everyone who wants to join the military should be required to watch Black Hawk Down.  Yeesh.  That movie really affected me when I watched it.  I just kept saying 'wow...'   :(  *shrug*

And i'm assuming it wasn't the terrible attempt at an american accent that did it.

I believe they want people to join, not scare people away.

@Wheezle:  What?

@TAK:  I was implying that watching the movie might deter people...  Not sure if I understand what you're trying to say.

Here in Canada IIRC you can join, they pay for your education, and you can leave after ~4 years....

13 seems a bit much...I wouldn't use up that much of my life just for free education...

The way it works is, however many years you serve, that's how many you get of *free education at a college of your choice.  I was looking into joining the military but not as a soldier, I would have been a techy/engineer type deal. They get paid a surprising amount a month AND you don't pay for food and board. Something like 2500 a month I think... pretty crazy stuff.

*it isn't TOTALLY free, they pay an average or something.  :s2:
