1)
I don't remember HL unpatched, but even before Valve changed the old 640x480 main menu, people played HL and mods in high resolutions with no problems at all.
SiN with no patch has a memory leak as large as Canada. It made the loading of the Bank level (the first one where you play in foot) at least 5 minutes long, no matter how good you computer was. The first patch, that allowed you just to play the game decently, was larger than 15 MB, way too much in that day. Comparing HL and SiN unpatched, as much as I like SiN, is a joke.

2)
SEE IT IN THE GAMEPLAY. When you look up and down in HL, the character move only the waist, and that is something I do remember in HL unpatched. Do it in SiN, the entire character try to face up and down, just like in Quake 2. There is a model viewer for SiN, maybe you can still find it @ www.ritualistic.com, see it for yourself.

3)
Yes, of course, any game has larger levels than HL. But really, you should see the later levels in Q2, they are similar in length. I do like the level design much more in SiN though, even more than HL's.

4)
Its not an scripted event, this would mean that the wall will be destroyed no matter what you want, and this is not the case. My point is that, reading what you put in the features list, people can think that SiN has GeoMod or something more advanced than what the game offers. But yes, it's something SiN has over HL.

By the way, you forgot SinScript, it's modding script language which you could combine with C++ to code faster. To this day I find SinScript better than UnrealScript, maybe not in flexibility but in reduced difficulty to learn and do things. Unfortunately no one made something worth with it (I lost interest quickly). BTW, I'm not a l33t modder, I just like to mess with games for fun.

all i can say is they are both A-Grade games.
but imho in pure Half Life would still score over Sin, due to its story and all

Well Deus Ex isn't on the list so I guess it's HL...
