Can't Resolve master.sof2.ravensoft.com ?? I installed everything then I go to launch the server with:

./sof2ded +set dedicated 2 +exec server.cfg

and then I get the can't reslove master.blah.blah

How do I fix this, I have searched for hours!!!

Is your server behind a firewall? If so, did you open the port for sof?
You might want to specify your port in your start-up command.

./sof2ded +set net_port 20100 +exec server.cfg

is the dns correctly configured on the computer?

can u ping master.sof2.ravensoft.com outside the game? if it gives same error then ur network aint set up right.

I tried setting the port that didn't work... I can ping master server to, yet for some reason it still won't resolve it????

Get a copy of the server logfile, preferably the qconsole file and paste what the output in it was during all of this so we can get an idea as to what is going on...

Yea I know, I am repeating myself to you across forums...LOL

Do you have a windows client machine on the network that the linux box is on? if so can you see the server in local,, or see it after typeing in the ip and port for the fav list?

Also,, try setting the port to something like 20101 or 20102... and make sure the prot number you use is forwarded to the linux machine if you are useing a router based firewall...

Turns out it was something to do with the fact I used files from my game directory instead of from the cd like the install guide said.. Once I reinstalled following the install guide to the T, it all worked.. No more short cuts for me lol
