A little while ago, I made a post regarding some SOF2 tools I had started to create. The log analyzer should have worked fine. The quickshader program had a HORRIBLE bug in it -- a bug I created and forgot to check just before I uploaded it here. As a result, most of you probably think "What a dickhead, this program is crap." Well...I am a dickhead. ;P Anyway, there's a new version of the program available, and this time it should work the way it's SUPPOSED to. Please...if you have any interest in using custom textures/shaders...give the program a try and see if it works. If you get missing DLL errors...well...I'll have to make it an installable package for ya. If you need instructions, look for my other post regarding these tools. Again...I'm really looking for some feedback here, as I don't know if it does or doesn't work if no one tries it. :P I'd be willing to add more functions/functionality and/or a cleaner, more robust interface, if people actually use the silly thing.

Cheers.

I very much care what you think -- as it is, though, the program is still fairly 'rough' in terms of error handling and things like that. But I just tried it out and it *SHOULD* work for making a shader file that gives surface properties for all textures that you 'add'. So...like I said, thoughts and comments are welcome. If there are enough people who see potential in the program, I'd be willing to work on it further.

For Pete's sake, try it again. Because I was at work, Comcast's HORSESHIT filetransfer program had made it all caps for some friggin reason. You should be able to get it now.

Okay..
The following is stuff I'd like to see but I'm not saying your program is aweful, go fix it! They are just things I personally would like, nothing more:

Ability to choose the shader file that is going to be created/edited.. (I use a lot of shaders but I have them all stuck into mymap.shader for ex.)

Image resizing.. would be nice to set a texture scale or something.. similar to how radient does it would be fine.. no need for auto-settings or crap like that..

That would be about it.. anything fancy in shaders and it takes a big step but for the quick and dirty work.. I think you're on to something great!

Thanks for the feedback Brutus -- let's talk about it:

I'm not sure what exactly you mean about the 'ability to choose the shader to be edited' -- isn't that already there? The little box at the top allows you to type in...well...basically anything -- and it will append whatever shaders you 'add' to the end of said file.

In the scaling part...do you mean that the preview window is too large? Or would you like the preview to be of the actual texture size, or something?

Feel free to send me private messages as well, if you'd like to discuss this. As it is, I found a small bug in both programs the other day, (log analyzer and the shader proggie), so I am still interested in working on them both.

Do you think adding 'textured lighting' features would be something you'd use?

Get back to me on this...
