does anyone else think that Raven is kinda dropping the ball by letting SOF2 go on so long without a sequel?  SOF3 should be at least announced by now.  I notieced alot of clans in sof2 moving to Call of Duty.  Thats unfortunate for Raven and the loyal fan base it has.  What do you think?

I'm playing CoD now but will move back as soon as possible if a SOF3 would come out and be a worthy follow-up.

...Even at this date it would be like Michael Jackson's recent "Greatest Hits."

...A couple of maps, a new weapon or two and maybe a circle-jerk new game type will not make a difference at this point.

...........

The number of shots it takes to kill combined with the bunny-hopping has kept the game out of world-class status, given the difficulty in aiming.  Add in the lean bug which has gone unchecked since its release and you have pretty much put the game in an Al Gore "lock box."  The game really needed revamped.

Activision planned ahead.  They wanted people to buy COD to get the features they purposely withheld in SOF2:

They didn't want to improve SOF2 because it would take away from the reasons to buy COD!!!  Smart, aren't they.  Once the patch comes in for COD, we will have a control on bunny-hopping.  The hits 'to kill' are about right in COD.  Some of the weapons appear unbalanced but it is too early to tell.

The locational-damage (headshots and blasted limbs) combined with decent overall graphics make sof2 a great game.  All it needed were some better maps, canned bunny-hopping, bug fixes and some new weapons with modified game types.  This could have been sold as an upgrade. (even an online download purchase with verified CD key.)

My guess is that platinum will be a milk job.  If I am wrong then I will re-install the game (if it is a free download)... If I have to make an additional purchase to find out what they did...?  Then, FAGITABOUTIT!  Way too late!

I mean really, is anybody going to go back to herky-jerky strafing once the COD patch comes out?????  Is anybody going to even invest more money in a game after all this time just to see if they got it right. (Actually, will anybody even re-install the friggin' game.)

Sure, I got more than my money's worth with SOF2.  I always have with a Raven game.  But Activision could have gotten so much more.

I kinda agree with Dys except for one point. I think the amount of shots it takes to kill is what made SOF2 so good. Intense AK or shotgun shoot-outs which had you sweating for a couple of seconds. In COD it's like oops enemy, darn, I'm dead. Or wtf happened there, you don't even see the enemy a lot of times when you get killed. Sure, realism and all that bla bla bla, but I want to have a fun game, which SOF2 really was. I might even go back to SOF2 if there'll be a platinum patch which is worth going back to SOF2. I don't think COD is an all that interesting game to keep playing for months... unless THAT patch fixes enough to make it interesting. :)

Okay Monox... I'll go with the increased number of shots but only if they did away with the bunny-hopping.

I stayed with SOF2 as long as I did because of Real Damage.  If you hop then fewer shots are needed.

The people that generally love SOF2 are those who can twitch back and forth fast while tapping off a number of rounds... or they enjoy widely jumping around blasting with a shottie.

I think those are the worst aspects of the game.  I liked the randomn maps of the fields and jungles.  You could shoot at a running target or get stealthy in the shrubbery.  The popular maps turned out to be the twitch maps.

I have really been waiting for some game to come along with promise... hopefully, COD will be the game.  I love the Chateau map as well as Carentan... Actually they all have promise... though I personally could do without the Ship.

That's why I don't like CoD, too easy to kill, no skill needed, just few bullets and you're done. With SOF2 it's harder, you need to hold your crosshair on moving/jumping target longer with controlled bursts.

Nothing's better than taking down snipers all across the map with an unscoped Kar98. ;) Lately I've been bored with the machine guns so I take an unscoped rifle even when snipers are available. Pretty fun, makes it a completely different game. This only works in TDM though, in S&D and Retrieval pay more attention to their surroundings.

crouch lean has been fixed in osp, and jumping with a shotgun is not that hard to counter with a nice uzi. :)

My comment about crouch-lean was because it was a known flaw from the beginning that should have been handled by Activision... not the community down the road, as was the case.

Unless you play RD, the uzi is no competition against a shotti close in (and that is what we are really addressing here).

Moreover,  I wish people would stop equating twitch-tapping with the sole ownship of skill.  It is no more important than stealth or aiming.  Which is also to say that Quake takes no more skill than Rainbow Six... they are just different skills.

Of course, if you are a twitch-tapper, then you will think that twitch-tapping is the maximus "skill-us" in gaming.

Pshaw!

.......

Oh, Monox...

I found a server late one night that was bolt action only; quite nice.    I find the best all around weapon the mp44.  I have gotten my share of snipers with it and can match the "sheen-guns" in close.   I am really looking forward to the patch... WHERE IS IT????
