I was just wondering what mouse sensitivity some of you good players use on inf/dem and ctf game types? I myself find swtiching beteen 3 to 3.5 usually yields the best results because I find if it is any higher I can't aim for long range shots well enough.  I have tried around 5 \sensitivity as many skilled players use this.  Only good for short to mediumish range though I find.

Also does your type of mouse or desktop sensitivity effect it in sof 2?

i have sensitivity 2 and mouse acceleration 1 and my windows sens is just over half way and im useing the 9.70.0.0 logitech mouse drivers

tbh sensitivity is affected by all those things listed above. the way to find the best setting for yourself is to just play aroudn with it for a while

Using the lowest possible sensitivity, 1. Used to have it set more sensitive, but nowadays I couldn't hit an elephant when it's set to even 2... it's not a great setting for close combat as you can't do very fast 180's, but on medium to long range I don't have to stress my hand so much to be accurate, moving the mouse a centimeter only moves the crosshair a few pixels. Reduces the strain on my hand severely.

Sensitivity is a matter of personal preference, but a good quality mouse makes all the difference. I have Logitech Cordless Mouseman Optical *takes a deep breath*, which is the one before the MX series they have now. Very good mouse, comfortable and very accurate. The cursor doesn't jump at all, just smoothly goes from one point to another... that is without the "Smooth mouse" option... go figure ;). Don't think desktop sensitivity matters when using DirectInput (don't know if that's configurable, UT had such an option for sure), as it reads data from the mouse directly...

Three questions. What is Mouse Acceleration? How do you adjust it. And also I was told by somebody to set the \cl_pitchspeed to 301. What is \cl_pitchspeed ?

Thanks, Mark. Some good support info there :)

I have the Logitech MX 700 cordless mouse actually. I find its good for sof 2. I notice only the slightest delay wouldnt make any difference. Not good for quake 2 I found, probably doesnt  have the latest DirectInput or sh*t

pitchspeed is the rate at which ur mouse can move up and down the screen i wouldnt fidle with it tbh as the sens and accel are adequate

why i like using accel is because i can have the nice slow aim for long distance and then for cqc i can just flick my mouse 1 cm and spin right around 180:)

Hey Tim,

I think I might have run into you having an r_gamma problem on a server. (could have been someone else... :D )

Here is another setting you may want to use to help with accuracy. It prevents the bobbing of your crosshair when moving.

cg_bobroll 0
cg_bobpitch 0
cg_bobup 0
cg_runroll 0
cg_runpitch 0

In game mouse sensitivity = 1.77, I've had it below 1 in the past.
Highest speed in Windows, not acceleration in games. 200MHz.

Crap 3-button mouse with Logitech drivers.

Thanks mullins I think i play better with the pichspeed on default 140 after some testing, thanks for explaining what it does.

Arkhos, you helped me out with the \r_gamma and \r_overbrightbits issue, thanks again. A friend of yours, Psycho I think sent me this link to some of those tweaks you listed above: bobpitch, bobroll etc: http://www.x2software.net/bb/forum/announcement.php?forumid=2

I also, just then in fact adjusted in the windows mouse sensitivity to its lowest setting and this did effect the sens in sof 2. Very inaccurate to go by what other people have it set on. Guess it is personal preference.
