Wotcha,
I'm a long standing JK2 player and have every intention of being a longstanding JKA player. I'd just like to point out a fairly small issue, that would generate even more of a positive gaming experience. That is: Plaer Rankings, I appreciate that there are sites out there, such as the Darkside servers, clanbase etc, that already perform similar functions, but the problem is....none of them are official, and the numbers of players on these sites, varies hugely, and very rarely even represents a significant slice of the JKA community, let alone a majority. I'm not asking for Raven, or Lucasarts to set up their own, as the costs for this might well be unjustified. If one or tuther could even endorse one or two of such sites, then this could get the community off to a flying start, even somewhere to register clans, ednorsed by Raven or Lucarts would mean a huge banding together of the community.
Its just that from where I sit, JKA clans and players are spread out across the wide savanah of gaming land, Gamespy, IRC, Darkside forums and the hundreds of others out there, if there was just one place for all of the community to gather, the enhancement to gameplay would be incalculable.
Just look at the success of Age of Mythologies rankings, where you can leaf through players stats, see their victories, check out their clan associations, etc. If we (the JKA community) had something similar to that, not necesarily on the same scale, but something similar then it would mean a huge pooling of the community to the better of all. Sorry about the length of the post, feel free to delete it, if you feel its a rant or a rave, or an inexperienced forum noob ;) posting willy nilly. |

There are bunches of them out there, the largest by far that I know of is the Darkside ServersBut there are loads of them out there, some that deal with clans, such as ClanbaseThere are bunches of others, sadly I can't think of any more off the top of my head. Just thought of another one and thats http://www.provinggrounds.com/ |

Saevio why don't you just say that you want a way to show off Besides, are you sure it's what you really want? Second place is more bitter than sweet (so I've heard from reliable sources). Ok, seriously now, good post! Sounds like a a good idea if it can be implemented. You're point about the costs is a good one - but ultimately (and I hope you don't mind me disagreeing with you on this one No.2), but they risk their reputation by endorsing another site. They need to control exactly how things are run, or not at all. Not that this is necessarily correct of course - often it is incorrect (hint hint Geogie-boy, HIRE A DIRECTOR! It works better when you do). Ahem MtFBw/U |

I think that raven or lucasarts could exert considerable control over such a site as they would have the ability to unendorse them in a hearbeat. A better way would be to see it like the support that they give Jediknight.netand jk3files.com etc. I would've just liked to hear from others, if they thought this was a good idea or not, I feel that it would pool the community together, in one central place. Which would be a good thing, in my eyes. I think it could be done with only a little effort and very little expense, and it would really really enhance gameplay. |

I believe the largest community for player rankings is Bladeworks. They have over 20 servers and I don't know how many hundreds (thousands?) of player ranked. Good people too. Come on over and see us, or join any @BWN server. Happy dueling |

Cheers for the link, there is just one problem. There aren't any european servers, or australian, or asian servers. So that is cutting off a huge proportion of the community. Well at least there wasn't any when I looked through the server list. But thanks for the info, anf congrats on being no.5 for the jk3 servers on there |

Tis true, that bladeworks is opt-in, but because there weren't any euroean servers, it only serves to highlight my original point, which is that the community needs a single hub, somewhere to revolve around. Also although there are a lot of ppl on bladeworks, it only represents a fraction of the ppl that play JKA MP. So if some european servers joined, sure it would be a start, but the bigest help that any such site could receive, would be some sort of nod from either Raven or Lucasarts. There are sites like the ESL and they are good for europe, so its not just that i'm looking for a euro ranking site, its that I think there should be a global hub that is acknowledged by somebody in authority to be the place to go, some central place for the community to hang out and develop. Cheers for you post DiBiddilyBop, and thanks for telling us about Bladeworks. Oh and I just found out another place to play as a ranked player ww.eGaming-league.comPlease keep posting sites like this and bladeworks etc, cheers in advance |
