1) patch is made, however its delayed. 2) LEC is holding raven back from releasing the patch. Thus the delay. 3) Raven can only release information about a patch with consent from LEC. The primary bias for releasing the patch on behalf of LEC is what? LEC can release information based on the nature and timing of the patch, but has not. T F . Are these the total facts as have been stated ? I dont mean to beat a dead horse, im just looking for the facts. hopefully have them in one thread. if that thread has been made elsewhere please give me a link. After the recent state of affairs, we don't know if number 1 is true or not (and I want a real confirmation, not an email posting that could be misleading or altered).

The problem with patching, or even creating new material for JA, is that LEC (Lucasfilm Entertainment Company) holds the license for the Star Wars products. This means that LEC has any and all say in what they want in their game, and what they do not. This also extends into other tidbits such as releasing of the source code (ie. everyone asking for the MP SDK so they can create their own modified things) and patches.

The thing that is catching people right now is Raven's silence. This can be blamed once again on the licensing agreement, because since LEC holds domain over the Star Wars name, they can tell Raven to STFU whenever they want to when it comes to LEC's game.

With other Raven games, they have always provided patches as well as good feedback/community support. If Raven had final say over Jedi Academy, rather then LEC, then perhaps we would see the patches we want to see, and a much better community contact base.

I know that JK2 was messed up due to LA's influence and wasn't really the fault of Raven Software. However, if Raven made the same mistakes (leaving open the "we will decide how to patch"-section etc) when signing the contract for JA and as a result will mess up this game aswell then I swear I won't buy a Raven game ever again.

It also could have been possible that Raven signed with an "you will do x amount of games for us" clause.

Legal contracts are a biscuit eater, aren't they?

If you would have a company, and JK2 was one of your greatest hits when it comes to sales, would you deny a new opportunity to make JK3, even if it meant that the publisher would have his say in the release of the patch? I know I would sign that contract.

Not if it would hurt my reputation. SOF 2 and ST:EF 2 had poor support. SOF 2 needs some serious patching and Raven is responsible for that. I'm concerned they are doing Quake 4 at this point.

Just an update.. the ladders over at twl have shrunk considerable. I don't think they will last another month before they just take down the JA ladders. We have only played 1 game and have been sitting at the #1 slot for a while with not much activity Here is to hop'n they release soon!
