Ok, this is my last post about this subject, and probably on these boards for awhile. It's going to get deleted anyway, so I might as well say it...
Unkorn deleted the thread that had posted an email from a Raven rep stating that the patch was being developed and would hopefully be released around the New Year. This action was inexcusable, and not appropriate admin/moderator behaviour. Sure... delete all the other stuff; but this is an important subject to many people, and important information on these forums.
The person in question, regardless of their tactics, did hold the distinguished position of being the only person to pursue the subject of the patch to such an extent that he received several replies from Raven reps. In his last posting this morning, not only was he cool about it, but he respected the Raven rep by not posting their name when he very well could have.
The other threads happened because the thread in question got locked while he was posting the actual note, and he received a ban warning. This action of course antagonized the situation... it would be ridiculous to not expect it to.
Unikorn keeps saying that posting requests or complaints about the patch or SDK are both pointless and useless. So then what's the point of editing up a very opinionated and well mannered discussion/debate of possible bugs and gameplay opinons, and then turning it into an official 'sticky' thread? There are ton of these type of threads on the board... why does this one get special treatment. And several of those "bugs" aren't even bugs, and nobody can disagree or voice a counter opinon without having their post either edited or deleted.
So regardless of the community debate, now Unikorn decides what's really an official bug request and what isn't... that's not a public forum. That's moderation gone bad and taken to the level of power tripping.
For example... the "Last force dot not saving when using all points available" issue is not really an actual bug, but is a development decision on how that aspect responds - which I for one and several others actually prefer since it helps us keep track of our force allocation when moving between servers. Many would never even check their profile if it wasn't for this supposed bug... so it's a subjective issue, not a real bug. Yet, Unikorn disagrees so it now stays in the list regardless of whether the community disagrees or not. This is not appropriate and impartial action. |

Is this really true? He actually came here specifically to post a fake email? Pardon my doubt, but that does seem a little extreme to me, even for the person in question. If this is the case however, those of us at Lucasforums would like to know about it as well.

I appreciate your comments... thank you. However, I am strongly against the censorship of public opinon in an open forum. Now I understand that certain elements need to be contained on a forum that's controlled by a commercial establishment... I have to deal with that myself daily. Yet one has to be careful in approaching that type of action, because to censor the voices of an honest and true segment of a company's customer base is simply not appropriate action.
Raven has the right to do whatever they feel... but whoever is doing the editing around here needs to be careful. As a wise humanoid once said...
"Once down the dark path you go, forever will it dominate your destiny." |

"Is this really true? He actually came here specifically to post a fake email?" - I'm quite happy to believe that, if he's willing to spam after being told not to, capitalise words pointlessly, insult people, thread hijack among others, this would surprise you?
Free speech is still far from perfect, don't ever be fooled anywhere has free speech...it doesn't. If it did we wouldn't have moderators period. And I stand by the moderators on this, because so many threads have been started and so many posts. It's got to the point where it was a page of the same old stuff over and over. It had to stop and it has been stopped.
And the last point bug, it is a bug, if you set anything in game and it changes without informing you, then it's a bug. The exception would be if it is stated in the manual that it is supposed to behave like that - I'll leave that up to you to look into as I'm willing to bet it isn't mentioned. |

Well it's not a matter of belief... it's either a real email or it isn't. Fwiw, over on Lucasforums the person in question is very lucidly and respectfully suggesting that the email is not a fake - and quite frankly his tone doesn't lead one to believe that he's simply trying to fan flames. His original post this morning before he got upset didn't either.

Again, this is a subjective opinion and not a corroborated fact by Raven. I simply don't agree that issue is a bug. However, the point being that no one person has the right to speak for the entire community here. Removing any serious debate or counter-opinion on a subject simply distorts the material as if through a warped lens. Unikorn stated that the thread was to be "kept clean"... well having this issue listed in there without any appropriate counter repsonse is not "keeping it clean" - it's biased to one side of the debate - your side.
However, I said I was done discussing this and I am. If you want to discuss this further, come over to Lucasforums. G'day boys.. the Matrix has you. |

You should have stated that from the beginning instead of just closing the thread, banning the author, and the deleting it. Somehow you managed to lose all your credibility. |

The post was from a user who just comes on this board to complain about raven and to offer nothing but negative emotions. I had warned this forum that this action was no longer tolerated, plus also posting a forgery of an email claiming it was real put it over the edge. |
