If you went straight to the gold patch, rather than sequential patching, then that would make sense.

The black and white placeholders for textures are almost always fixed by a careful reinstall of the game.  

Others have recommended thoroughly removing your prior video drivers.  Although I'm not sure that this would have caused your problem, they are quite right - Nvidia and ATi drivers don't get along, and so you should look for a tool like Detonator Destroyer.

Oh, as an aside: I'm sorry I missed this issue earlier, and I am disappointed that some of the people here are ignorant enough of the history of installation problems with SoF2 to have raised a big hassle with you about the old, familiar broken .pk3 problem.

Incidentally, SoF2 was the only game I have owned that could lock up my PC in a heartbeat.  I bought a ten-dollar slot cooler, put it by my graphics card (a Radeon 8500 at the time) and never had a moment's grief again.

So yeah - we'll all take the lucky fixes...

I believe it is not a matter of being ignorant of history but more to the point of knowing what is legal and what is illegal.

The request that was put forth in the prior thread was illegal, bar none, regardless of what some tech support person said. I and others offered some help and advice. While I did focus to some degree on the fact the request was unlawful, I did offer other possiblities.

Also contary to what was stated toward the end of the thread...I was not the one that first fired off. If you reread that thread you will see in fact I returned fire after first being fired on...yes the person in question said sorry, but he still left his post standing unedited. Basically throwing out the idea its okay to insult some one as long as you say sorry before they get upset with what you said...blah bunch of rubbish.

Yes I did fly off the handle...but then agian I was trying to help in my own way, and then got slapped in the face.

Honestly I don't see how thats an attack on you by not believing what you said, really I don't.

Also there was nothing hurtfull or mean about me stating that my step son could write some thing better...by the way my step son is 16 with an A average, so its not like I was saying a 3 year old could or any thing of the like. ;)

Also reguardless of what the tech guy said, what you requested was illegal to do, and that was my point.

Spin it how ever you want but the facts remain that its illegal to distribute copyrighted material, and the tech guy should not have given out that advice, tho I'm sure he figured you would ask a friend and not post to the developers forum...which might get that guy canned.
