Most people use the ase model format to make complex geometry in max, then import into GTK. q3map2 creates solid surfaces out of the ase. So you can walk around/on your model.

Sounds cool, but sadly enough i can't model :(

But what about creating an instance using a normal sof2 model? Must be possible, right?  ???

rmg load md3's into the map while ase models are compiled into the bsp so unless raven adds ase support you cant use ase models this way. i had the problem with the backwards tree error aswell, but i cant remember if i fixed it or just gave up :/ ill have a think and get back to you

Maybe not the best solution in the world but it works: when you add a pickup entity the map compiles without errors :)

If you choose a pickup (other than the backpack) then the pickup won't spawn as RMG maps are normally played with outfits only (unless a mod decides to do it otherwise)...
