I want a styled light that will only be on when a "lightning" flash goes off in the sky. The lighning flash is a shader effect and I would like to time the styled light with that effect.  I have been experimenting but so far I have failed. Anyone done this yet or have a solution possibly?

i don't think it's possible with entities...

maybe you could make some shader for the textures that turns the texture very bright when the lightning flashes...

you could use a func_timer (or similar) to target some lights on and off. dunno if raven enabled targeted lights tho, then just set the frequency the same as the shader

why don't you make an efx file using EffectsEd (in the sdk) that flashes light (like explosions do).  Then you could place a bunch of target_effects around your map.

You could also make a func_wall with a bright texture and target it on and off quickly.  You could even make it in the shape of a lightning strike.

Add these 2 things together with a thunder sound and you can probably make a really convincing lightning effect.
