Loved the game. SP experience was totally different from the
JO. Reminded me of the good old Dark Forces 2 days :;): but with saber creation.  :D The best ending goes to the Dark Side. What a way to leave a cliff hanger for Jedi Knight 3(or an expansion)!
SEIGE GT in MP rocks. Vehicles in a MP Q3TA engine game is a nice touch(Is this the 1st one to implement it?). My only gripe on MP is there are only 3 maps for Seige :s8: Hopefully the good folks at Raven would add more through patches or something!:;):

I believe the Jedi Academy will be a spinoff to the JK series as
JK series was a spinoff to Dark Forces series. What do you think?

Kudos to Raven! Nicely Done!

I agree :) It's nice to see someone not bashing the game for a change!

I would personally like to see a siege map with some of the flying vehicles like the TIE fighter or X-wing. Whether it's created by Raven or a mapper.  :)

Just wanted to add that I too really love this game.  One of the best SP and MP Q3 based games I've come across.  Even more fun than EF:Voyager, which is one of my all time favorites.  I remember the days of playing the Quake I mod Ultimate Quake, where having a lightsaber was so cool... to see that this is what it eventually evolved into.

Thanks Raven!!!

-----

It's my humble opinion that everyone who thinks JA bites should be tied to a chair and forced to play Quake I on a Pentium 266Mhz for a month; then afterwards be given a copy of JA on a PIV system with a Radeon 9x00, along with a Nostromo speedpad, an optical ball, and a bag of chips.

Raven... your effort is really appreciated by a lot of us.

mer4hire, your getting your game titles mixed up. this is jedi academy, not jo, dark forces 2 was called 'jedi knight', and you couldnt create a saber in jo. cliff hanger for jedi knight 3? this is jedi knight 3. Jedi academy is also part of the jedi knight series, and not a spinoff. and its also part of the dark forces series. cause jedi knight was known as 'dark forces 2', and jedi academy is called 'jedi knight 3'

im not bashing, or whatever, but i do like to make sure people dont read things, and then take them for fact when its not correct.

as for the SP, i agree, it wasnt that bad, maybe not as good as the original jedi knight, but not horrible.
and i doubt there will be many levels at all where you can fly vehicles, the idea of the game is to go around as a jedi, with a lightsaber, thats what the x-wing series is for.
as i said, the game isnt that bad, but would be a whole lot better if it had a patch. there are just too many bugs

He never really answered your question though.  Very clever.  He just suggested that if YOU think it's JK3 then it's JK3.

Nothing is enough for those who have took the believe JA isn't JK3 is it? :p

He does say in the end JA is essentially JK3, essence in the dictionary tells me that it contains the source, the heart.

Lets think about this totally logically, it was released after Jedi Outcast following the events of Jedi Outcast. Even more simply, it was released after Jedi Outcast using an improved upon engine. It is by rights JK3, the only time it isn't JK3 is if you say a sequal must have the same lead character as the previous game - which is a poor argument you have to agree.

It's like you people are praying for a JK3 game...it's not going to happen, if there is another it will be JK4 or some other number aversive name - believe it or not sequals don't have to have numbers, I still know what you did last summer is the sequal to I know what you did last summer; doesn't use the same lead characters but we know it's the sequal.

earlier one of the raven devs said on lucasforums that this is not JK3 as it is not a continuation of the series, just a spin off in the same vein as MOTS. but because it  has soo much content in addition to JO, it is a stanalone expansion, just like IL2 FB

So the one and only thread with something nice to say about the game gets taken over and turned into a debate on whethere this is JK3 or not?

if we want to debate, so what? what do you want us to do? sit around, have some sort of tea party and talk about complete bs? if you want, we can turn this into a thread about how much the game sucks instead, hows that?

anyway, yes, it does depend on your definition of the Jedi Knight series. I would say that, Jedi Academy is as much a part of the Jedi Knight series, as the original Jedi Knight was a continuation of Dark Forces. In Dark Forces, you didnt have the lightsaber, or force powers, yet you played as Kyle. And in Jedi Academy, you have the lightsaber and powers, but you dont play as Kyle...

its all a matter of opinion on whether this game is part of the series or not, unless someone with authority on the matter actually comes in and says whether it is or not.
but i believe from what Kenn said
Quote
if you define the Jedi Knight games by the Kyle Katarn character
meaning you can define the game that way if you wish or not.

but i believe that when he said
Quote
This game, however, is a sequel to Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast in that it follows the events in that game, so in that regard, yes, Jedi Academy is essentially Jedi Knight III.
it *is* Jedi Knight III because as stated it *is* a sequel.

but, that is my opinion, and am not saying that is how it is, just that is how i interpret it.

but what i believe isnt opinion, is that is is a sequel, because it is. just whether it also has the title "Jedi Knight III" is what im saying is open to debate. I wholeheartedly agree with Wade, It follows the same story, picks up where the previous one left off, and it does have the same characters, but theyre not in the same lead roles.
