Free For All means : Everyone can play as they please, the only thing that matters is your name on top of the list.

It is a general rule in the JK2 and JA community that you do not attack someone who has his/her sabre down.

Really? I must have missed that in the manual... silly me!

Quote
1. It is uncool: the person can easily be hit so where's the satisfaction for you in killing an unarmed person.

Funny, on my computer it only takes a single mouse-click to ignite a saber and defend myself. I didn't realize it was so challenging for other people. Woops!

Quote
2. It creates a unique atmosphere where opponents show respect for one another......before they bash each other into oblivion :P

So when a player calling himself "Super Saiyan Goku" joins, calls us all @#$% "n00bz" and threatens to "pwn" us all, that's really just part of the whole "unique atmosphere" of respect? Cool!

Guess what Chief? Some of us don't want, need or care for superfluous exercises in pomp and circumstance to demonstrate "respect" for one another.

Personally, I respect everyone equally until they go out of their way to prove themselves unworthy. Usually it's how they conduct themselves using the game's chat function (profanity and/or needlessly insulting or abusive comments). Sometimes it's simply the way they choose to identify themselves (as in "Hitler' or "KKK" - actual names people have used on my server I fully suspect with the intention of having racist/bigoted impact). It's never how they actually play the game.

I can't begrudge someone for attacking me while my "saber is down" or "chat window is up" - if I put myself in some kind of vulnerable position, it was a conscious and voluntary decision. I'm not so self-centered/egotistical to insist that everyone on the server has to curb their playing style just to cater to my personal choices.

For  "sabre down" to work, it has to be enforced at the server level, not by some convention amongst players.

1) It annoys the #### out of me, with the constant whining about SD kills

2) The worst are those who end up on the losing end of a fight, so they drop the sabre and plead "sabre down" when you rightly kill them - or those who use force power attacks on you and then plead "sabre down" when you slice them up.

3) It's just plain snobbery - "I know the conventions of this community better than thou".

At the end of the day, JK is an FPS, and your value in the game is rated by score. You don't accumulate points for wit, or talking about what you did at work. If you want an online community, try a bulletin board, chatroom or "Star Wars : Galaxies".
