Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the game conversations from Jedi Academy and Outcast?
Like a transcript or something?

That would be awesome.

How to access sound files
-------------------------

I do not think that there is a script available for the speeches, but you can follow these steps to access the sound files.

1. Go to your Jedi Academy\GameData\Base directory
2. Open the Assets0.pk3 file
3. Inside the archive, browse to 'sound\char'
4. You can find different character's voice casts based on their name. The 'misc' file under a directory usually contains pain/death/action sounds like jumping, dying, pushed/pulled etc.
5. To extract the sounds, just select the appropriate folders and choose Extract to (remember to keep the directory structure)

For the Stormtrooper phrases, see the folders 'st1', 'st2' and 'stofficer1' for the speech files. 'stofficer1' contains all command sounds like 'take cover', 'let's see some ID' etc.

Remember that if you alter any sound files and replace the originals, only your sounds are affected. The other players in MP will hear their respective sounds.

How to play sounds in-game
---------------------------

For example, to play Kyle Katarn's first speech sequence in-game, put the following command to console 'play sound/chars/kyle/01kyk001'. There is no need to add the ending of the file (.mp3/.wav) if you don't want to.

Creating advanced sound taunts
-------------------------------

To create advanced taunts, you can use a combination of taunt command, sound command and a say command. For example, here is  a syntax for a simple sound taunt:

bind <key here> "say "That is blasphemy";wait 10;soundstop;play sound/chars/<model>/<sound file>"

The 'wait 10' must be there, otherwise 'soundstop' will not stop the say-commands 'beep' from playing. If the 'beep' is not stopped, the sound file will not play.

You can combine this with any preset taunt in the game. Just remember to use the 'wait 10;stopsound' combo to prevent the original speech from being played, and add the 'play' command to play a custom sound taunt instead.

Happy taunting :)

assets0.pk3\strings\English

misc.str has most of the (highly amusing) talk between your enemies in SP.

That's for Jedi Academy anyhow. :)
