Been away from SOF2 for a while so I just did a fresh install, downloaded the new gold patch and connected to a server.  All was well at first.  That game ended and I go to connect to another and i get nothing but Unpure Client messages everywhere I go.

I was connecting with ASE initially and I thought I remember there being some complete bs issue with that so I tried using the in-game browser ...same fukin thing.  

I deleted the OSP folder thinking that might be it ...then rebooted, then tried again ...same god #### message!!!

I searched the forums for "Unpure client errors" but after about 5 pages of "OMG HAX0R unpure client burn witch burn!!!" type posts I grew tired of it...

So ...aside from reinstalling this wonderful game (which seems to be the recommended procedure for all problems!?!?!) is there something simple I am missing here?

As a side note how the fuk are new people that don't know about this forum supposed to connect and play?  Maybe a disclaimer on the PB install stating something along the lines of  "PB will break your game and you will need to rely on the games community to fix it for you, they can be reached at ...blah"

Sorry for the rant ..yes I'm pissed.

Any advice other than re-install?

Just completely deleted OSP off my system and re-installed the Gold patch...  same thing =/

Ok ..i can ONLY connect to OSP servers.  So where exactly is all the OSP information?  And does everyone that plays OSP have to completely remove it each time they play on a non-osp pure server??  

That can't be...  so what is the trick here.

i've gotten that CG_SetInitialSnapshot invalid g2 pointer for client thing before, but a restart of sof2 solved it.  

try running
wiser2 to check the validity of your install.  if it hangs up on a file, chances are its corrupt, and you could try copying it over manually from the CD.  

could be, since you haven't played it in a while, your cd's are scratched and/or dirty?

Cool thanks!  I will give it a shot.  It's strange because I am able to connect to OSP servers fine just not regular.  I tried hopping on the SPD server several times last night and kept getting kicked for the Unpure client message.  It seems to alternate between that message and the other wierd g2 blah blah message.

There are people that play both OSP and regular right?  Or is it one or the other now?  

Good to see some familiar faces when scanning the servers last night.  Saw a bunch of T|A guys but I was too frustrated at that time to try to connect ...doubt I would have been able to anyway.

Make sure you download OSP client from orangesmoothies website. This download has a whole folder (just overwrite your current OSP folder).

I've found that you get these messages when you only have a few OSP files, and not the whole lot.

Try setting Allow-download ON in your menu somewhere and connect to a server via the ingame menu. if you need a certain file from that server you download it directly from there. (only good with small files because of low speed)

Or try turning it off, that should work.

Grabbing the full OSP from the orangesmoothis site did the trick.
