No, I'm not going to start talking about how a patch should fix the single saber damage. I'm going to start talking about how single saber SHOULD be harder to use, does anyone else not want to see a change in the saber styles in the patch? For the record, single saber is the ONLY saber I use. I love it too because it's a good challenge and if you win, you have bragging rights LIKE YOU SHOULD

Yes.

Unlike currently, when you first enter a JA MP game, you can almost instantly become good or proficient (if measured by frags). The requirement for skill is much lower than it was for JK2. Perhaps this will attract more players, but currently, it will cause many players to seek other games as well.

The saber system in itself should be completely reworked. Make it skill based (block-button & decent countering ability), purely. The saber should be insta-killing, like if your defence fails and you get hit, you pay the price by biting the dust. :p
Specials ? Remove them. Instead, make the combat system resemble your average Tekken/Virtua Fighter game. I'm sure it would attract much more players that way. The key idea behind this attraction is the skill required. Or are everyone here siding up with the mentality that everything should be granted for free, and right now ?

Currently, I get no personal reward when winning a duel in JKA, because I know that most of the time I didn't do battle at all. It was the code that fought for me, against odds created by a couple rolls of dices... Of course the game rewards me with frags, and other players, who think frags are all that count, look up to me with ave.. But those of us who know the real essence of JK2 was, do not. They feel as sorry as I do due to the lack of depth in the saber combat.

Yes, I think the single saber should be less powerful in most situations, but not always. But no, I don't want Academy anything like Tekken or Virtua Fighter. You can already play them on your games console, so why make this game like that?

Because,

1. Only a few of these combat games features a sword or sabre of somekind.
2. 99 per cent of these games are completely offline versions.
3. Even if sections 1 and 2 were inapplicable to some titles (have weapons AND be playable online), none of these qualifying titles have been ported to PC as of my knowledge.

Enough of evidence why we (read: PC players) need a decent fighting game with skill like Virtua Fighter, fluidity of Soul Calibur and the athmosphere of Star Wars ? Why would it be a hit ? Because THERE IS NONE so far.

Perhaps the free-fight mode of the game could be preserved for those who want to use guns or do mobile battle. But for balance's sake, an option should be included to cater for our (people like me) tastes as well.

I prefer single saber too, and I dont find it hard to beat staff or dual sabers at all.
But I dont think it should be made less powerful. The boring part of it however is that I always find myself using the heavy stance, with the occational light stance upstab. The increased range and heavy damage of the heavy stance is the best way to deal with the others by far. This reduces the fun of it i.m.o. I really feel that the saber duelling in jkii was far more satisfying. The way it is now the special tricks are too easy to use, the increased force usage on everything is just making it less fun, I'd like kick, even though the way the game is balanced now I understand that it would be impossible to implement it again. I really feel that they should have kept the single saber abilities as they were, and completely remade the other styles, to be able to counter that style on an even playing field. Reducing the damage the single saber style does compared to the other styles, is an extremely cheap way of balancing the game in my opinion.

Overall these things makes the MP for JKA a shortlived story, which is too bad. JKO was a brilliant game. Too bad they couldnt keep up similar work on JKA.

As for the single player game, it is a lot of fun, to short of course, some beautifully made maps. But the overall storyline and how it progresses didnt really catch me. Again I liked it a lot better in JKO. Giving us a saber from the beginning probably was a good idea though, even though I really didnt mind having to play the two first levels without a saber.

...No...just...no. I'd rather play Bombad Racing whilst having sea urchins inserted into my urethra.

Edit: Silly me! I forgot to mention gargling AIDs infected blood
