the only crash i get is the multi player one that crashes my game, just after the map loads and my player is in the green force field, then i get the sound loop, and bang ,my monitor jsut sorta goes into standby, then i can hear it still running the loop, then that stops, still black screen, then the pc lights all come on(hard drive lights) and then nothing.
so i gotta reset the pc,and well,i friggin hate that.
but the weird thing is,its only after the map change, once im ingame its fine.so its like i gotta quit and reconnect the game before it gets full again.or if the map changes, just quit and reload.
my setup is thus---
AMD Athlon XP 2600+-stock cooled.
Gigabyte GA7VTX Ultra mobo*-the VIA drivers i use are v4.49-*
500W power supply
512meg dual channel.
2xMaxtor hard discs-80+80.
Sapphire Radeon Atlantis 9700pro-running 3.6-serious probs.-running 3.7-only the multi crash.-running 3.8-total system ****up.lol
Onboard 5.1 audio.
Liteon 49125W cd rewriter
Pioneer 106D DVD+-writer
clear case with 4 multi colored fans-2 in,2 out.
stock cooling on radeon.
Windows XP pro w/all patches and updates/service packs.

but the single player game is fine, with the 3.7s.
the 3.6s would jsut crash after every cutscene, and do what the map change bug would do.
and like i say,the 3.8s,well as well as the heat problem, the windows taking longer to boot up than usual, and weird flickering onscreen like id overclocked my card to ####,they were the crappiest drivers ive seen.
they seem to have been done by a monkey.goddammit. :s6:

ill jsut stick to my 3.7s just now,and see how i get on with them.
there IS a problem with the 3.8s on jedi, its on atis webpage, but its just described as a resolution problem i think.
says something about the game will lockup if AA or AF is used .
but thats the whole god #### point of having a 9700pro,is to use the filters and other features.

3.7 crashes every hour in JASP.EXE

3.8 wouldn't even load the game until many hoops were jumped through and 3.7 was finally purged from the system.

end result:  JASP.EXE crashes every hour...

9800 Pro 256 card for me = 499 paperweight...

I'm copying this from another thread into here, since it has some relevant info that might help someone...

-----

Here are a couple of threads over at LucasArts that might help... and if you already read them, I'm only trying to help.

ATI Radeon Users- What Drivers Are Working For You?

This may be a way to solve a perfomance issue with RADEON cards

Game crashes on loading a save game

Video Cards

The general consensus is to use the Catalyst 6 drivers.  I'm running a Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB on WinXP with the older drivers and get good response.  I've seen posts from others running a Radeon 9800 Pro that are having good results as well, so it is possible.  Some have suggested it could be an issue with those running certain SoundBlaster cards.  One big issue to look at is the Motherboard's BIOS settings... the default AGP aperture size is usually 64MB for most mobos, but since you are running a 256MB card, that might need to be increased to 128MB or higher.  Also, it's entirely possible that the mobo can't handle that powerful of a card; or that the power supply isn't getting enough power to the card through the AGP slot and crashes while running the game.

This very well could be a problem with JA - I'm not saying it isn't.  But be sure to look at all other considerations as well.  Does the card run other graphics intensive games like JA fine?  Or is this the only/first one since buying the card?  After I installed my Radeon 9000 Pro, I had to upgrade my power supply because it kept crashing my computer whenever I tried to play Dungeon Siege.  With as powerful of a card as the 9800 Pro 256, I wouldn't run anything less than a 400watt Antec True Power supply (distributes equal power to everywhere, unlike standard power supplys), especially if I had any other USB or power hungry peripherals installed, such as a really big harddrive. And since the 9800 Pro 256 card is so cutting edge, if the motherboard is more than a year old it probably can't handle the throughput properly with the default BIOS settings.

Be sure to visit your motherboard manufacturer's website and see if there's any issues with the newest graphics cards on your mobo's model.  They might also have a directory or help section which explains the different BIOS settings related to AGP performance.  If you haven't contacted them yet, do so and see what they have to say, since they might appreciate hearing your experience with the Radeon 9800, or have maybe heard from others.

Good luck...

3.6 is what this game was tested with so that is the ones to use until ATI fixes all the problems with cat 3.8

I might agree with the power supply issue though I have no facts to prove it one way or the other. I'm running the ATI  AIW9700 pro with very old drivers I guess. I'm not sure where to find the driver version except in the display I see driver version 6.14.10.6378. What this is maybe you know better but I have very little problems running the game. I have a PC Power and Cooling 425W power supply and is one of the very best PS's out as far as I can tell by the specs and how clean and stable the voltage and current is by measuring them myself and seeing how my system worked before with a 300W supply. Games are a workout for any power supply, they really tax the computer's resources. Maybe there should be a thread going on here about which model power supply is being used, what wattage and how much that model cost as any supply that comes with cases or cost less than 100.00 is bound to have problems with todays computers that run top of the line cpu's and video cards and other high perf. parts like high RPM harddrives and so on.

The only problem I have with the game is sometimes it glitches out when I try to save a game a lot, that's it.
I run a ASUS Nforce2 motherboard, 512M Ram, AMD XP2500 barton cpu, ATI AIW 9700Pro video, No overclocking, C labs Audigy gamer sound card, dual 40gig 7200rpm maxtor harddrives, 2 plextor SCSI CD's and the PC Power 425W supply. Most is fairly high power consuming devices but has run very stable. It should also be noted how many people are overclocking their systems, either their cpu's and or video cards as it seems to be a popular thing these days and a lot of people I know who do it seem to think they got it down so good to not ever consider it a problem with lockups, I tend to laugh at that on how personal they take it when it's suggested.

athlonXP2000
asus radeon 9600xt
sb live! 5.1
windows2000pro sp4
latest asus drivers (but issue occurs with catalyst 4.1 and 4.2 as well)
stuff...

the game often (once every 5 minutes at best, twice in 1 minute at worse) freezes and/or hangs, audio looping, image flickering, then automatically switching to windows and making the VPU Recorder message window appear. if VPU recorder is turned off, comp just crashes and reboot is needed. this only happens with jk3:ja (it doesn't happen with other q3 engine-based games such as soldier of fortune 2 or call of duty).

thanks. jools.

ps - this is really p1551ng me off.
