If there's an option to interlace png graphics when you save it make sure that is off.

what size is your image, its gotta have dimensions of powers of 2, eg 256x512 or 256 x 1024 ect

Are you trying to create a decal? Dragging into a new file is ok, but before you save, you need to flatten the image so that it has no layers. The command is CTRL+SHIFT+E.
The size is also important since they have to be powers of 2.
For a picture with that shape, maybe 512 x 512 would be just right so you can have some transparency around it.

Photoshop 7 has a bug saving targa with the alpha chan, go to www.adobe.com and download the patch.

As far as my experience goes sof2 seems to work with tga files.... in the latest map i am working on i have easily made a transparent texture with one.

I just copied a shader i new to be transparent and change the names etc etc.. works no problem...

Why use tga when png works fine and the size is smaller?
