a ton of times, If you have halo. (amazing replayability in the sp game, coupled with great coop on top of that= gaming heaven, too bad no coop on pc though) |

Your movie analogy is flawed to say the least. Lets take Lotr: The Two Towers for example, it runs for about 2.5 hours and costs about 24 bucks. Now a GOOD SP game newly released will be around $80 (In Canada) and usually contains around 30-60 hours of interactive gameplay, if you do the math you'll find that you get a lot more for your money with the game.
Heck I've been playing Morrowind for months and I still haven't finished the main quest, and I haven't even gotten around to the expansion packs!
Anyways, I'm sure you haven't been playing JUST Q3 out of the box for all these years, it relies on new mods to keep it alive and interesting, the same is for SP.
Even in MP games you will see reptition, people will start to use the same strategies over and over, maps will get old and boring, etc. There is no progression in either a story or missions-simply multiple teams slugging it out.
Both modes of play have their advantages, it's just that the SP side is currently severely hampered by something MP games are not: bad AI. |

Believe it or not I do still play vanilla Quake 3. The only mod I play really is Urban Terror. I also enjoy Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. Anyways, SP games rarely keep me captivated for more than 10 hours, let alone 30 to 60 hrs. Although I've never seen a SP with enough content to go 60 hrs (I mean content not go to dungeon, frag AI monsters, level up, repeat). RPG games are even harder to replay I find than SP FPS games. At any rate my 3 cents (Canadian). |
