I have been playing with this mouse for a long time but all of a sudden 5 minutes into a game it crashes. I cant move the mouse in the game or on my desktop i have to restart to get it to work. It just started happening and its pee-peeing me off. Its not wireless but its a microsoft optical wheel mouse. It doesnt have a ball. Any suggestions?

those things are pretty self sufficient.  have you checked to see if your drivers are wonky?  maybe uninstall and then reinstall the mouse?

It is a usb mouse and it is just the mouse that freezes I can use the keyboard to move and stuff in the game and get threw my desktop. I may have solved the problem by downloading its software off of microsoft's websight.

It may be a power issue then. Especially if you have many USB devices, or if you have loads of hardware in your machine.

Does your mouse plug straight into the USB port on the PC, or is it in a USB-hub? Try a different USB port. Try the mouse on another machine.

Also, make sure there is no strange power management features enabled with any software you have with the mouse etc etc.

At the end of the day, ,it could just be a faulty mouse.

ive heard of more people having the same problem.
Some1 in my clan have the same problem as well and cant get rid of it. He tried everything from installing new mouseware to reinstalling sof2. If any of the ravensoft crew are familiar with this problem pls post or solution or make sure that the problem is the mouse, which can hardly be since it works at everything except sof2. Its a logitech optical.

Help with this porblem would be greatly appreciated since this problem means i cant play sof2 anymore

Logitech's drivers are crap.. only use them if you absolutely have to ( for example, models with many buttons ). The default windows drivers work great on my Logitech Optical (3 button)

well mine is a microsoft optical and from before yes its got an extension so the mouse can plug into the usb but if i plug it straight into another thing the power will completely go out of my mouse, no light or anything in it. The only other things I have hooked up in the ports are my keyboard and my cable modem. It has to be a power issue because if i restart it will work fine for a while. What can I do to keep the power coming to my mouse?

if i plug it into the ps/2 it will kick in and out randomly and eventually just stop working all together, no power that is what i meant in my reply above when i said there is no power or anything.

maybe your ps2 port is just crapping out?  use usb instead?
