But will all change when PCI-X comes out :p

Already out on the G5!  :p

Seriously, unless you can go for a FX 5900, go for a Radeon.

But what card out there uses PCI-X ATM?

None... Beside some rare Ethernet and FireWire/UBS card.

But does PCI-X is backward compatible with normal PCI?
From what I read, it is.

So, computer with PCI-X are ready for tommorow technology.  :;):

That's not much of a selling point.  Besides my wireless LAN card, since my machine has onboard sound I have *no* PCI cards in it.  And my machine has onboard LAN too...just not wireless LAN so I need the card.

To me, a PCI slot is about as useful as an old ISA slot nowadays.

I have 5 PCI slots and I use all but 1 of them.  I have a soundcard, modem(hehe), network card(mobo doesn't have one), and a tv capture card...most of what speed named.

I dont even have one PCI card.

I got onboard sound and LAN and I have 6 onboard USB2.0 ports so I don't need any of those soon (im not using any of them ATM)

There are only two things I would buy a PCI card for, firewire ports and as a slot cooler to cool my vid card :D

All right ...

I would vote for nvidia.

Because:
- better drivers
- better co-operation with Dev's
- most games immediately run, without new driver
- the firm is sympathetic to me
- I don't like Canadians (ATi)

- Read above. It's not true anymore. It was a few years ago.
- I dunno. Maybe.
- Games also run on ATI without new driver if the game don't use new tech. If a game use new tech, even a nVidia card new update.
- It's personnal opinion. If you have link with nVidia, it's good.
- This point is irrevelant and can only bring flame.

- Ati's drivers are now on par with Nvidia's drivers in every way
- Maybe.....but it still runs on ATi
- Anybody who doesn't update drivers is dumb. You should always update driver as soon as you install vid card
- Ok.
- Why? Care explaining that? What makes canadians worse than americans (which i assume you are)? Why do you label a whole country for what was most likely an incounter with one or two of us? Thats like saying "all chinese people are rude" just because one chinese person didn't like you.
