OK....here is the situation.

My cousin has a Linksys router and I go over his house to play multiplayer.  When I do....all sorts of crazy things happen.

I get errors when i get on a server and i get kicked off.  I know this is vague but it is driving me crazy.  The PC will freeze which has never happened before.  He also will sometimes get kicked with strange errors.

Does anyone have any clue WTF this is ? I will be back with exact errors because I am at his house right now.

Many folks here will help.  It helps them if you will list your system specs and connect speed, etc.  And describe what is going on, exactly when it locks up, etc.   OK?

I get different errors.  Well...I guess they are not error, Punkbuster just kicks me for random reasons.  I have DSL at home but my cousin has Cable modem.  

Here are some of the things that are happening.  Some of these errors are what I remember.

Guid_auth or something like that
some kind of duplicate error but i wasnt duplicate CD key

Also....ever since I have the new 0.3 OSP my PC freezes completely sometimes when playing the game.  I have to manually power the machine down.  This happens at home also though.

Mobile intel P4
4-M CPU 1.7 GHz
1.69 GHz
256 MB RAM
MOBILITY RADEON 9000

if you're behind a router, that might have something to do with it. that douesnt sound like the problem though. punkbuster will kick you most of the time of you have a generated cd-key. but, if you actually bought the game you shouldn't have a problem. unless you let someone borrow it and they are using your cd-key. someone will help soon enoguh though. more error detail and/or screenshots would help though

Manually update to the new PunkBuster client and type: "/pb_cdkeyver" in the console before connecting to a server.  As for OSP, make sure the OSP pk3s are the only pk3 files you have in the folder, and the other pk3s are in the base.  Redownload the OSP pk3 files, unzip these and place them in the osp folder (the applicable ones):

osp-client-0.3d.zip
osp-client-0.3e.zip
osp-client-0.3f.zip
osp-client-0.3g.zip

know what the scarey thing is. i have a linksys too, and a cable modem, but i get a diffrent error. pb init failure. any ideas on this? if you do e-mail me at sof2encrypt@hotmail.com.

I am a little off the original message, but could really use some help.  My friend and are are trying to connect to each other to play, but each time one of us sets up a server, neither one is listed, nor can we find each others name under a player search.  I am running through a Linksys router, he is not.  I am might possibly be having problems when I set up the server because of the router, but I can see other servers when I refresh the Internet list, but never my friends.  What are the settings supposed to be to get on the server list?  I had also never entered the cd key in the multiplayer option screen, but was able to play on some other people servers, so I figured I did not have to since when I installed the game, I had entered the key.  Thanks for your help.

Try connecting by IP in the console:

/connect 1.2.3.4:20100

if you're behind a router, you have to forward the port to sof2 in order for it to show up in the internet games list. it also has to be a dedicated server, non-dedicated wont show up. (sorry beefyman for stealing your advice, i've learned a lot of what i know from reading you're posts, ur the man!)
