Just in case some of the older school Quakers around here haven't heard, SID has released version 3.0 of thier popular Q3A mod Urban Terror.

Heh be fore warned its a fatty coming in at 322mb, but its a clean install base, thus removing the need for any prior installs.

It has a ton of new maps, a new weapon, new skins, and a load of other goodies.

So if you got a copy of Q3A laying around and the disire to enjoy some fast action then fire up those modems and light up one of the mirrors listed on this page. (Urban Terror.net)

god knows it. I played that mod from the start. Most mods get better with each build, not so urban terror. It really went down hill since apoxal and a few other devs left. I tried it again last night. Still feels weak. The models, animation and physics are miles behind sof2. And wtf is up with the new coloured menus? Orange and blue...barf. Did sweetnuts leave the dev team aswell? lol. I'll pass on urt.

Obviously the graphics and animations are behind SoF2s. Too bad apoxol couldn't bring into SoF2 what was good about Urt. Hands down Urban Terror has 10-fold the gameplay that SoF2 has. SoF2 was a foundation for potentially good mods but the community is too stupid unfortunately. I've played UrT the whole time and haven't touched SoF2 in months. I try it now and again and realize how much less it has to offer, then I curse at Raven for the rush job on the MP!

only me -

Are you kidding me? The game has improved by leaps and bounds. Yes there is still work to be done on it, but he11 its not to shabby as is. Yes the models need work and actually they do have some new ones done up, but they have yet to release them till the new Aries II code goes in, which from what I understand will in fact beat out SoF II's hit code, which is based off the old Aries code. The new models are more or less on par with whats in SoF II, minu Logon's arms need a few more ploys...at least the last version I seen of him.

As for SweetnutZ, I'm not sure how active he is, since he's working for Raven now.

Heh Apoxol didn't have time the game has to ship at some point. ;) Also keep in mind that SoF II wasn't suppose to have any MP at all, so rushed or not its a nice addon to the game tho it would have been nicer if there was a bit more time spent on it, or more support for the mod community.

they said that aries two is being made, not to improve the code, but simply because they no longer are able to make the detection meshes for aries 1 for new models (theylost the instructions or something like that). this inability creates the, "It looked like i shot him but a hit didn't register" bug and the solution is a new aries system. you may be thinking of zeus, which will be far improved over aries and will come later.

Well i guess it depends on what you like.
Urbanterror feels very confused to me, like a patch work game. It doesn't know what it wants to be. The first couple of builds, pre beta2, were action packed, no stamina ( i REALLY hate stamina, it's a compromise between twitch jumpers and crouched campers) and fun maps. Every build since 2 on has become more confused. I quit in frustration at 2.6. I mean my grandmother could have made a better mod at that point and she's been dead for years. I skipped 2.6a, why bother I thought, I mean how many times do i touch a lightbulb before i realize I'm only gonna get burnt. When i seen b3 was out I thought aight! now we talking! I admit I only played it for 2 maps before i made my judgement. riyadh and turnpike. That was when i remembered that urt also suffers from MANY crappy maps. nrgizer made the fun maps and he split. Now urt has CRAP maps like turnpike, metro, any druglord map,  golgotha, twinlakes...long list...

Nologic, your not a dumb@ss, do you really think aries2 will be better then sof2? I don't think the programmers there have the skill. The ego yes, but not the skill as proving by earlier claims that fell WAY(to the 10th power) short. And with their devtime we'll be playing sof3 before they come up with their aries2 B.S.

And now you can't throw knives anymore? lol! bleh, end of the line, me moves on.

/me stops picking on urt mod.
