The problem is probably your cable connection.

Most servers are based off approximately a 25-100mbit line(s) (OC), based on professional hosting @ datacenters throughout the world, however some being on low as 1-3mbit lines (T1-3).

Our server is on 10mb line and it has NAT address to out side world. It has lag!

Question is that is our server good enough. Specks are:

P3 1000 MHz
512 Ram
10/100 ethernet card (3Com)
os. FreeBSD 5.0

Ifconfig says its 100 mb full duplex.

It seems to lag almost everytime someone connects to server. And some time for no known reason it has some lag spikes.

Maxrate is set to 10000, fps is 20, smoothclients is 1, synchronousclients is 0 and nolagglassbreaks is 1.

I dont know if it has anything to do with this lag problem but we have alot TIMED OUT errors when pb tkaes screenshots. And corrupted screenshots too.

If anyone is interested to try ip is 212.83.115.221:20100. Server hlocation is Finland.

Has to say it worked fine about 3 months ago but know there are whine about lag.

You can TRY enforcing a min. rate for players as a TEST, it works on our server. Though your problem sounds more servere than ours.
