Perhaps my extensive email to Rick and Kenn will produce an answer to this question, but I thought I would float a slightly more brief, less detailed version here.

Basically ... I'm told there aren't any plans to release the source code to this game yet, is there actually a good reason why not to?

Fantastic PR for your company if you release this, and it costs you nothing - is this maybe now an option?

Clanned SoF, especially in Europe, is alive and kicking.  Maybe not as it was, but people aren't giving up.

They need something to be going on with, though.

I'm no fool - I'm not expecting Raven to support an old game, especially not one as old as this.  But the very least you could do would be to facilitate others moving it on.

The last released version of SoF source is 'unmoddable' to current standards, primarily due to weapon balancing issues and Gamespy integration.  SoF2's released source code is more up to date than SoF1's.  Surely, this can't be right...?

I modified SoF2 to play like SoF1 - gameplay, speed, weapons, grenades, explosives, added all the popular CTF maps, you name it - it's not what people truly want.  They don't want SoFPX, they want SoF1.  Fixed.

Help us make that happen!  Please.  It's time.

Give us the sourcecode and Raven will never be bothered again concerning SOF1 :-/ It would mean ALOT to all the SOF1 players ...

Please release the source code, you lose nothing. This way if i understand correctly, we can fix the problems Raven missed (Looks @ SIBCTF1) and make the game better, even build an effective anticheat.
We are not asking for it to be made totally public just make it available to D3VIANCE and we trust he will make sure whoever can use it constuctivly get it.

We hope you see that it would be a great help to us if you would release it.

the source code is needed to stop the many cheats in sof1 , we all believe d3viance can use this code to make improvements for the game ...

all people of raven did a very good job with sof1 and i hope you finish your good work with a simple thing... that you give the source code to the sof players which would like to keep the game alive and want clean it from cheaters, etc.
