my current mouse's wheel has died so i need a new mouse i am thinking about getting the mx500 but some1 said the dual optical is better, is it really cos i thought the mx500 got the same 800 dpi but only needed 1 led

also do icemats work with optical mice?

mx500's (like mine :D ) are indeed more accurate than dualies.

I have an mx500, happy with it, good mouse... drivers suck so don't install them. :)

had both (had every logitech optical, actually)

both are great, but MX500 has it beat

drivers are supposed to be "corrected", but I never tried the new ones, as DX9 natively supports the thumb buttons now, and that's all i needed

ok im getting the mx 500 :)

BUT how is it more accurate if teh dual optical has dual 800dpi (as stated by its specs ) is it just better technology?

think of it like this.  i can get a celeron at 3ghz, or i can get a p4  at 3ghz.  

the mx engine is completely new, hence better precision.

what's an "icemat"?

i use a fUnc pad, and my mx500 works best on it's slightly textured side, not the super-slick side, if that's any help
