i usually enter my worldspawn values when i am doing my sky box - just a step i take - you dont hafta do it then - but it is just part of the process on the checklist for me

your bsp will go to wherever your compiler is telling it to go

depending on which compiler you are using but in options you should be able to point it to someplace that YOU want it to go (like: main/maps/mp/yourmapname.bsp)

hope this helps ya

I use the Worldspawn editor on this site.

It saves typing anything in (unless you want to change things) and can just transfer worldspawn values straight from the original game.

while i agree that using the worldspawn prog is easy

i believe that the best way to LEARN how to do it and CREATE your OWN settings is to enter them manually

nothing against the prog - but all mappers should know how to (or try to know how to...) set their own ws settings [angryalien]

each to their own tho

sorry its taken all day to get back to ya guys, i was out at the zoo with my girl friend hehe [ohwell]

right so what i get at the mo is... the first brush i create, creates a world spawn for the map.

so can i leave the stock values that it makes? or do i HAVE TO put values in?

foyleman, when you say "open the entity editer" you do that by pressing N right?
this is what i dont get. when i open it i just cant see where i have to input the settings.

lets say i use these settings......

mp_carentan: sky/mp_carentan
minlightcolor .75 .84 1
diffusefraction 0.45
sundiffusecolor .75 .84 1
sundirection -45 210 0
suncolor 1 .73 .42
sunlight 1.5
_color .75 .84 1
ambient .2

where do i actually put them?

do i type in where it says Key and value? im sorry if im being real dumb here guys.

Ian.

yup.. hit N to open the entity editor and enter the each key and value. There should be no settings on default setup.

"key" and "value"
"minlightcolor" and ".75 .84 1"

no quotations.

You have to enter all of the keys. Once you enter a key, the boxes usually don't clear themselves so you can just delete what was just entered and start on the next entry.

If you need an idea of what should be entered, there is a list in the tutorials section. I believe it's something about worldspawn.

if you make a mistake, select the bad entry in the white box and click the delete button.

If you are worried about losing something, save your map under a new name (which you should be doing anyway.. often.. so you don't lose all your hard work).
