While getting back into sof2 I noticed that a lot of people are crouch-leaning while in shotgun battles.  I thought it just threw people's aim off for the head and that they were just whining, but I noticed that NO headshots ever surfaced when a crouch-leaner dies to the shotgun.

So I decided to test it out and there's something really screwey with the hitbox for the leaning head against melee and shotgun attacks.  Notice you can't bludgeon or stab someone from behind while they're leaning?  Well you can't bludgeon or stab their face straight up either.  We then decided to see how much damage a shotgun blast point-blank would do to a crouched, leaned face.  IT DID ABSOLUTELY ####ING NOTHING!  If you don't believe me go try for yourself with someone else.

We kept at it and you can hit the body, but the head is absolutely unaffected when it is leaned and crouched.  It really is something to be looked at and I hope it's dealt with.

Hopefully this will spell the death of the shotgun, an ak will take a crouch leaners head off with no problem.

Yeah... at first nobody really noticed it was that bad of a bug but now suddenly everyone uses it because one started to do the lean dance and it appeared to be pretty d@mn annoying.

It really gets on my nerves to die even while I shot the other in the head first.

Rabs Terror -

Don't blame this on scripts, since its an issue with the hit detection.

Script or no script you still have the problem.

The shotgun, knife and other melee attacks detect hits to the bounding box (BBOX), not to the actual player model. When you lean or even jump, much of the player model is often outside this BBOX - hence missing people even when you should hit them. The solution, simple - change the code so that shotguns and melee attacks use the same hit detection as bullet based weapons. Ta-da, problem solved.

Chances of seeing this in an official patch?
Nada

Chances of seeing this in ManDown?
Already done.

Chances of ManDown actually getting played online?
Bugger all.

Why the #### do I still mod for SoF2?
Stuffed if I know.

well how about ya all make a server side script or a small mod, directed only to stop the crounch lean error. i mean u have already done scripts that disable m203, and what not do 1 that disables lean crounch. wouldnt that b possible?

Because even most small mods aren't downloaded and used, let alone small important mods the fix things. Then there is the clans and leagues who won't use anything unless the gameplay remains the same as 'official' releases... so unless Raven fixes this bug, I don't see any reason to make this small, relatively simple server side fix.
