First post here.  First of all, I bought SoF2 Gold at semi bargain price this weekend and I ABSOLUTELY love the game so far.  This has got to be the best implementation of military weapons in a shooter game since Counter-Strike, prolly even better than Counter-Strike.  The models are absolutely georgeous.  I'm just in the Columbia "forward camp" map so I haven't seen it all yet but so far the AK47 is my favorite weapon, it's very accurate, way better than the M40 at this point.  But the grenade launcher from the latter is pretty nifty as well.

Then on to my problem.  I have an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro and the game runs very nice in 1024 x 768 with 4X Anti Aliasing and every possible setting set to max detail.  But I have one problem with my monitor refresh rate (monitor = Belinea 19" CRT).  It's set at 85 Hz for my desktop settings (1280 x 1024 @ 16 bit colours) but SoF kicks my refresh rate to 60 Hz which hurts my eyes a bit.  This happens both for 1024 x 768 and even 1280 x 1024 settings in game.  Is there a way to "force" SoF2 into using my monitor at a 85 (or 70) Hz refresh rate?  Both are supported by my monitor.

One question then, is it possible to zoom with weapons in this game?  In the Columbia mission I found it quite hard to aim at distant enemies with the automatic weapons.  Especially the M40 seems to have a decent recoil and becomes less efficient.  The AK47 seems to have a much lower recoil and is easier to use as a long range weapon.

I noticed the M40s that drop on the ground show a scope mounted on it.  Would it be possible to attach a zoom to it somehow and use that zoom?  That would be really nice.

I remember in the first SoF the only zoom came with the sniper rifle I think.  Is there a sniper rifle in SoF2 as well?  And if so, is this the only weapon capable of zooming?

Then another quick question, does crouching decrease the weapon recoil penalties?  I do crouch most of the time but if it's not worth it I might as well go more Rambo style.

Again, I totally love the singleplayer game so far.  As a quick feedback to the devs in case they are working on SoF3: The more realistic the weapons, the better.  I personally find for this reason alone SoF2 a TON better than the first SoF.

Ooh and how is multiplayer compared to singleplayer?  Is it worth playing?  I didn't like the first SoF multiplayer that much since it was mostly a rather fast paced frag fest where I was more hoping for some less Quake styled battles but more with a feeling of Counter-Strike.

Refresh rate is an annoying XP problem, I wish they'd do a hotfix to cure it :(

to force SoF2 to overide XP default in the console
seta r_displayRefresh 85
vid_restart

the capital R is needed and the seta will add it to cfg so you don't need to set it everytime you start
