So my cloned weapon works perfect now, but it uses the same icon as the regular M4 in the weapon selection menu... looking in sof2.wpn i see:

menuImage "hud/weapon_icons/m4_icon"

now, in the sof directory, there is no hud/ dir... and i went thua ll the pk3's in the base directory and there doesnt seem to be a single one with a hud directory inside...

so my question is, does anyone know what to do to add a new weapon icon?

It's in GFX\MENUS\HUD\weapon_icons

yea, after a bunch of hunting around and rereading the docs in the sdk, i found those... and realised thats not what I was really looking for anyways...  :s9:

What i'm trying to do is change the image in the player outfitting menu... i *think* it has to do with the images in \gfx\menus\weapon_renders\ except none of those images have any text in them, and all I really wanted to change was change "M4 Assault Rifle" at the bottom of the selection icon to "M4S Assault Rifle"

I tried making a \gfx\menus\weapon_renders\ dir in my mod's dir, then made a seperate m4s.png and m4s.jpg but the game doesn't seem to load those, so im assuming the text has something to do with when the outfitting menu is built?

There is no text in the weapon renders, the text comes from bg_misc.c:
