If someone has already answered this in a previous post - I apologise, but I could not find a post regarding this. What are the settings 'm_side' , 'm_forward' and 'in_mouse' - I know that 'in_mouse' means initialise mouse but the default in SOF2 is -1, what are the effects of different settings as i do not notice any difference between -1 , 0 , 1 etc. Also I am trying to find "good" m_yaw , m_pitch and sensitivty settings - I currently use : m_yaw 0.010 m_pitch 0.010 sensitivity 30 And this is quite jerky! - Is this the connection/server or does affecting the yaw, pitch etc. also effect smoothness of movement? Any help always appreciated. |

Thanks for help - yep - looked through the list of scripts and found info on yaw and pitch. But still do not know what m_side and m_forward are? Any ideas anyone? |

in_mouse is for turning on and off the mouse, or setting it to a compatable value, like -1 is for some logitech mice. If you have freelook turned off (sorry don't recall the cvar right off hand) then your mouse will then move you forward and backward and left or right, instead of looking up and down, and turning left or right. Now if you do have freelook turned off then m_side and m_forward come into play, these control the speed at which you travel side to side and front to back. More or less they are the same as the m_pitch and m_yaw just applied differantly. Really I wouldn't worry about them, because its far nicer to use freelook than to use your mouse to get you around. Plus you would then have to look up and down and turn with your keyboard, instead of the mouse...its just not a good way to play. |

BTW just thought I would add - I found these settings work well, but of course everyone is different: in_mouse -1 m_filter 1 cl_freelook 1 m_yaw 0.00010 m_pitch 0.00010 sensitivity 1500 cl_mouseAccel 0 That mathematical thing with decimal points - hehe, lovely jubley! |

It averages positional data thats sent from the mouse to make mouse movement more smooth, this is a huge help for PS2 users, since it has such a low sampling rate, but some USB users have also found it handy even tho they have a much higher sampling rate. Tho if you have a high end mouse hooked up to your USB port you may find little if no use for it, but one should always try things and see if they help. How ever if you mainly snipe, I'd suggest having it on just for shitz and grinz. ;) |
