If I were you I'd get a newer processor. What motherboard do you have?  ???

No, i dont think I need a new processor.  Yes its not the best but hey, it gets the job done.  I can easily play the latest games maxed out (UT2003, EF2, AAO, SOF2, etc...) in smooth frame rates.  And hey my machine IS only like 3 months old lol.  You see, i chose to sacrifice some CPU speed for a better video card when i bought the PC.  Heck, even if i bought a 3000+ i would gain what, 20-30fps?!  No, im not gonna even consider upgrading untill i cant play games above 30fps which im far from right now.  Even if i wanted to upgrade i dont got any $$$$ im only 17 ppl.  Currently.. without a job... :s9:  Im happy with my PC  :D  By the way i got a Leadtek Winfast K7NCR18D PRO Nforce 2 motherbord.  I feel like a lucky 17 year old if you ask me.  Most of my freinds PC's can hardly play EF1 lol.  :p

Well i just disabled the limit and i got a result of 160fps to 330+fps within holomatch on multiple levels.  It mostly hovered around 200fps.  Droping down to 150 at times and blasting up to 300 at times.  Not bad eh?  I dont think i need an upgrade...........  Heck you cant even tell the difference between 60fps at 400fps right?   :;):

why do you need more than 90 fps??? its not like you can tell the difference

This has been an issue on some boards before and it has been researched here.

A little clip:

I will explain to you how the Human Eye can perceive much past the mis conception of 30 FPS and well past 60 FPS, even surpassing 200 FPS.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you lock the FPS at a particular value, then that's how many processes (per-frame server snapshots) an EF server will do...  This doesn't apply to a dedicated server, of course, but only in a gaming situation where you're playing on the PC that's also the server.  In that case, you'd want your server PC to be able to crank out as many FPS as possible so the other players will have lower ping and a smoother game.

But when I'm a client, I like to do

/com_maxfps 360
/r_swapinterval 1

and the game runs butter smooth.

What the above does is this:
com_maxfps 360 - Run the game way over my potential refresh rate, if possible.
r_swapinterval 1 - Sync each frame with the refresh rate of my monitor.

With that combo, the game's FPS won't ever be higher than the refresh rate of your monitor, but you'll NEVER experience tearing (although it may get 'framey' in highly detailed areas or during big battles) and your game will run so smooth that it'll look like an arcade machine, provided you already got high framerates in the first place.

Give it a shot and see what you think.  Remember that you can type 'r_swapinterval 0' if you don't like the whole 'sync the game with the monitor' idea.

Heh, have fun!

I tried that too but in my experience the r_swapinterval just drops the fps way down, so it doesn't run smooth at all (and I don't have an old system...).

All depends on what you want really, I fiddled with all these settings a lot a while ago and now I'm content with it.

I wouldn't advice setting the fps at 360, 125 is a very good gaming fps. Can you get out of the trenches in voy2 when playing online with lots of people? Or jump through the second teleporter straight onto the flag (not against it, but on top of it)? That's what counts for me and a lot of other players as well. It's a shame, but game physics IS fps dependant. 125 just gives you an edge.
