Hexen 2 doesn't work on my pc :-(
i have:
Win2k Professional
P4 - 1900 MHZ
512 RDRAM
Geforce 2 400 mx (asus)
Sound Blaster Live 5.1
Creative DVD X 16 (cd*52)

i installed hexen 2 and when i run it the screen flickers and the game looks soooo bad, it's unplayable.

please help me, i bought the whole hexen series (hexen1, hexen 1 deathkings of the dark citadel,hexen2 and hexen 2 portal of preavus)
and i don't wanna feel like i wasted money for non-working games

try deleting the opengl32.dll file from your Hexen II folder, also make sure you have the atest drivers for your video card and motherboard.

i remaned opengl32.dll to opengl32.bak now hexen 2 works (only OpenGL mode)

but now another 2 problems: low resolution (only 640 * 480)
and the game looks very dark even after adjusting the brightness it doesn't change anything!

To increase the reolution you'll have to add two parameters to the command line.  Example: "glh2mp.exe -width 1024 -height 768 -bpp 32", replacing the numbers with the screenmode of your choice.
To make Hexen2 brighter find the - gamma "1" - entry in the file "config.cfg" (in the /data1 and /portals folders) and replace the 1 with a number between 0 and 0.9, with 0 being completely bright.  If this doesn't work try using the NewHexen sourceport which was made with newer cards in mind: http://newhexen.raven-games.com/

Alternatively you could attempt to use an external tool such as Powerstrip to brighten the screen.  What it does is run in the background and whenever you enter a certain program (i.e. Hexen2) it changes the gamma level, and later reverts all settings back to normal as soon as you exit.

i have the same brightness problem, i'm using Asus 7100 (GeForce 2 MX)

and the program u have mentioned costs money....

is there anything that i can do? (except buying a new non-nvidia video card)

The trial version of Powerstrip doesn't expire (it only gets slightly more annoying) so its possible to make do.
There other programs that do the same though, I just don't know about any of them.  You could run a websearch on "gamma brightening utility" or similar and see what you can find.

Are you sure NewHexen still doesn't have gamma support?  I could have sworn Korax had gotten that to work sometime last year...

A non nvidia card isn't neccessarily guaranteed to work.  I remember when I had a Radeon it had the same problem.

NewHexen made my hexen much brighter....
but still it's preety dark to see, i have a gamma tool with my video card i don't know how to use it (i mean it doesn't apply the settings when i set it..)
