Ok I recently purchased a new headset microphone. It is awesome, the mic is awesome, and I can't believe how much headphones help you tell where someone is coming from. However, when I get on roger wilco or any other voice chat program such as teamspeak 2, msn messenger, aim, whatever, there is about a 5 second delay between when I say something and the other dudes here it. Now I know some lag is expected, but a WHOLE 5 SECONDS is so annoying, I tell my friend NADE by that time he's dead. The other people in my clan have almost no lag on their mics and they have crappier computers then I do. So please help me, why does my microphone lag?!?!?

Specs:
1.8GHz AMD Athlon Modem
512MB DDR RAM
80GB Hard Drive
Cable modem, roadrunner, 10MB/S connection, average of 256k download speed, 65k upload.
-----------------------------

I just can't figure it out. Even if I have EVERYTHING closed except RW it still lags like a mofo. I used enditall2 to close all but the necessary windows system processes and rw and still at least 5 secs of lag. HELP ME!

try turning the quality down choose the lowest bitrate. btw ts2 is better than rogerwilco imo (only about 1 sec lag max and sometimes alot less)

Well what's the difference between direct sound recording and wav? Also there was a box called use less cpu or something, i clicked it, lower quality, but i'm hoping it might do the trick.

There is another better voice prog - mentioned in this or another forum somewhere - can't remember what its called, but as soon as my pc is back online I'm gonna test it out.

Have a peak for that, 9 out of 10 soldiers prefer it.

As for RW lag - used it before, yes turn the bitrate down. RW is VERY old - never been *that* good ... try setting up a server somewhere in the world and connect to there instead of doing a direct connect - it can help. But IMO expect lag from that software....  :(

Doesn't your sig say spoons + rake = er spoonsrake?  :p

We have just switched from TeamSpeak2 to Ventrilo.  Ventrilo is a tad harder to configure, but the soundquality is very very good.

Ventrilo's homepage here.
