Hmm.... it freezes when I try to join servers. About two minutes into it, it completely freezes - the music even does that annoying skipping thing. It's difficult to get to the desktop but when I do I have no choice but to reset. Ok I'll admit... I wasn't trying to play online, my brother was. I don't play online much, but I will some times. I will try to more. I wonder if anyone knows what the problem could be? As far as I know I haven't done anything, nor has my brother, its just acting up lately. I'm not sure what to make of it since I don't know what anyone has done or not done to the game, or internet or whatever.... Hmm, I know I'm not being much help. So neither can you be I guess.... But it makes no sense! It just won't work for whatever reason that I know not! Grrrr... |

Wow, JK2 forums... excellent. But, uh, its kinda empty in here.... How will I get helped? Hmmm....
Well I think EAX is what they call the 'surround sound' option. I have surround speakers, and they've never caused a problem b4, so I don't think that's it.
First, I don't know about bots I will try that. It happened in servers with real people after about 2 minutes or so, but not in SP mode at all.
I have the newest DX and video card drivers. And if not, that is friggen annoying it seems like I update them alot! Anyway.... Version 1.04? What's that? I think there was some sort of patch and I got it, I think. I don't remember. How do I check my version?
My specs:
P4 1.6 GHz Windows XP Home sp1 GeForce 4 MX 440 512 MB DDR ram Sound Blaster Live value Lynksys hardware firewall/router cable modem
Anything else you should know?
I don't think anything changed recently that would screw things up. Cept for getting more ram, but that would only help things, right? I don't know for certain, but my Dad may have changed the router settings recently. But I don't think so.... ack.
I was just wondering if anyone has had a problem like this, or knows what to do.
Thanks. |

To check if you have v1.04, you should have assets5.pk3 in your GameData/base directory. Or, when you start up JK2, open the console (shift and ~) and it will be written near the bottom right of the console. You can get the patch here if you don't have it: http://www.jk2files.com/file.info?ID=3825There were two patches out, 1.03 and 1.04.. so perhaps you only got 1.03? [edit] This was the thread I was talking about. These guys seem to have the same sound skipping thing.. http://www.gamingforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64667[/edit] 7 |

| EAX is more than just Surround and IIRC The SBLive isn't really supported by the version of EAX JKII uses (You could try copying across the openAL driver from the game CD but I think you need an audigy or extigy atleast to use that properly)
The memory could be a possible problem but try the sound adjustment first. |
