Ok, so Internet Cafe's are popular. So popular they have SOF2 in them, and they are PACKED. So, some random guy mouths off, TK's, does everything he shouldn't in a server. The admin maybe BANS THE IP. Maybe the admin shares the IP address list. Ok, thats the worst case - but then that internet cafe could be ####ed! Anyway, one last thing - when checking out the laws on CERTIFICATION (SOF2 being an 18) - I found it only applys to the rent or sale. If I buy it and give it to my nephew, thats entirely fine and legal - just a little note for those saying online to some noobs or whatever that "This is an 18 certificate - you shouldn't be playing" lol... well, not important anyway! |

First of all, its not a law that you "Can NOT" sell a Mature rated game to a minor.
Secondly, the banning of IP's is a problem that the Internet Cafe would have to take into account. I don't think it should be removed as an option for server admin's. If you get a Uncle Jack who keeps coming back to the server with different keys, then you need to be able to block them somehow.
The Cyber Cafe would have to take steps to hold their customers accountable for such things. |

That is all dependant on the country, the US version may be rated mature but the UK version for example is rated 18 by the BBFC which is Law, |

I never mentioned a MATURE GAME, I said "CERTIFICATION (SOF2 being an 18)". As spike said - it depends on the country.
Here's what BBFC had to say:
From: "Master Web/BBFC" <webmaster@bbfc.co.uk> Subject: Re: Classification for Computer Games. Date: 23 April 2003 04:42
Legally the certificate only applies when the disc itself is 'supplied' to a person under 18. It is not an offence for a person under 18 to play an '18' rated game. However, in this case, the situation may be complicated by the fact that you are charging for the person to play the game. We don't know whether this may be seen as a form of 'supply'. We're afraid you would have to take legal advice.

Pretty much impossible to do with so many servers around - once the banning gets going, it could be 1 week after the said cusotmer was there.
I agree, the server admins have to take steps... would just prefer another way. Again, to quote myself:

And yes, just so you guys know, I work for a company that has a gaming cafe
-EDIT- Never followed up the "legal advice" btw, we just don't allow under 18's to play. And SOF2 is very popular here! |

I didn't mean to imply that it would be easy for an internet cafe to hold customers accountable. What I meant to say was that its not something that the Developers or Server Administrators are on the hook for.
How to best protect yourself from "Assholes" in your cafe's getting their key/ip banned is certianly something your company might want to brainstorm about. |
