| Quote (Stage @ May 23 2003, 5:19 am) | But the maps aren't built in a way to support that. The maps aren't forcing you to utilise the mid/high-range parts. You can manage just fine with staying away from those areas and just stay in the areas where the USAS dominates. And again you have imbalance. |
No the maps are not built around the guns.
I would like to see the SAS moaning because some terrorists have not got the right kind of weapons to let them get good kills in an objective area.
We all know the types of weapons available when we are in the server - we can pick them. Using the map and "whatever" weapon to survive is part of skill.
imbalanced or not - Just beacuse I am *here* on a map with this gun doesn't mean you (a) have to come here, or (b) use the same gun as me, or same tactics.
If I use the terrain perfectly and have a nice weapon for that area - and get the kill, then I am more silled at that particular moment! If you manage to clear the room correctly and adjust your tactics to the terrain of the room to deal with me, then you are more skilled at that particular point.
Of course it all depends on certain variables - are you defending flag or case, or are you attacking. In inf, you can win by defending in two areas - the attackers let time run out, or you can kill them all (you do NOT have to go to them, they MUST come to you to win this game type). If a quick change to USAS helps me defend for that last minute in a CTF game where my team is 2 points ahead, then so be it.
Oooops, sorry for ranting
| Quote | It is of course not imbalanced in an enviroment where everyone are using it, which is what you see in most top-level clanmatches. It is no longer imbalanced, it just ruins diversity. Instead of someone using the AK, someone using the MP5, someone using the sniper, someone using the Sig - everyone are using the M203. Which I would concider more boring.
|
I agree - boring. The guns should support each other - which is a good reason to use ALL weapons. |

| Quote | i bet you dont use the usas do you? people always try and talk about a weapon they never use.
the usas is an ambush melee weapon. it works wonders on defense for clearing out a rush of 2 or 3 guys or attacking kamikazi and causing a distraction.
and yes it takes practice, and yes you have to aim, more so then with the m590. |
in matches, i remember some of our d using the usas (like in col1) and that makes perfect sense.
if i get owned with a usas, i dont cry n00b i cry DAMMIT.
the shotty should be toned down a bit...that's as good as a primary weapon...i would love to use an uzi, but a 1 on 1 with a shotty user, well, i better have a shotty or more crying. |

The m60 is nothing like an usas12 otherwise a lot of noobs would have taken that weapon as a change for the usas. The damage of the m60 is higher than ak, but not as high as the sniper. I've seen a few players who were unbelievably skilled with that m60 and only needed a few mouseclicks to get someone killed sometimes (no cheat, sure of that), but also seen players holding the button. Sometimes i like to fool around a little and then im using m60 too. I was doing it "the noob-way" : rushing very close to the enemy and holding the button. Sometimes very effective, but sometimes it's not. It's just feeling like a "random kill-chance" weapon: sometimes 5 bullets and sometimes a shamefull 50 bullets in conclusion: I like to use m60 sometimes, and i also like to see others using it, so i hope the trend of banning m60 will not continue. |

What is the IP of that server? Do you remember that? It sounds really good! Or maybe some1 who knows how that could be done by serversettings? |

uh ok, mm1 is very ez to use, not at short distance if that's what you mean, rpg is also ez to use, also not a short distance. USAS, well, i've seen tons of ppl called "noobs" running around with little difficulty killing ppl with it, but i've had trouble when i wanted to "lame" with it... so... i guess it isn't that ez... to me anyways.
and about the m60, i don't see why i'm called a noob sometimes when i use it and i kill a lot of ppl. I mean, its hard to aim, you have to burst it a lot more then some other guns. |

Well said, way up top, Cobra.
No Weapon Is Easy To Use Until You've Practiced Some WIth It.
Currently, I use a bit of all the weapons as much as possible.
The angle with the MM-1 is horribly frustrating, but I think I've got it ok. With the RPG-7, you have to judge the enemy's moves--so they can't dodge it. Aim at their feet, ahead of their move, or right at'em. No matter what, its no easy feat killing someone with the RPG-7 or the MM-1, if you try it at DISTANCE. Same with the Shotgun. RANGE, people, RANGE. With RANGE, and COMPENSATION for RANGE, A.K.A, SNEAKING UP, skill is BUILT while using these 'N00B WEAPONS' that have NO RANGE, or MASS KILLING POWER WITHOUT skill at CLOSE RANGE. Same goes for the M-60, which has NO ACCURACY. IMPOSSIBLE to AIM EFFECTIVELY. Try using it AT RANGE. Not EASY. None of the weapons are EASY TO USE, unless you have SKILL or are just in the right CIRCUMSTANCES, such as CLOSE RANGE.
Do forgive the CAPS LOCK problems. It seems to come and go, randomly. But, I must say, I DOES add EMPHASIS to what I say, DOESN'T it? Adds MEANING. STRESSES the WORDS. The PRINCIPLES.
Ahem. Sorry. |
