Well i think it would be more helpful to offer some advice. Vangacce when u 1st start the game it should pick the right options for your system. Try moving the config file in the BASE\MP dir...move it rather than deleting it completely. Do the same with the Single Player cfg in the BASE dir. Then start the single player game and go through the options there for gfx settings. Once you have everything as u want it rename the single player cfg file to SOF2MP.cfg and copy it to the base\mp directory. If its running bad still could well be your network settings and mebbe try this first:- Bring down the console and type the following params:- Note: for all of these make a note of the value it returns and then apply the changes , that way you can put it back. I am presuming u are using cable /snaps make this 40 /cl_maxpackets make this 40-60 /rate make this 12000 for cable. The amount of FPS you are getting can be limited if the network settings are wrong. Rate for example can send ure FPS plummeting if set way too low. Hope this helps anyways..Happy fragging |

I'll see about writing a tweak guide later this week, but right now I'm tied up trying to work out the details for the movie making site that Spike and I are working on, with some help from cOOk.
Also network settings have little to do with FPS, but more with precived FPS. Also do not use your single player config, since the exe is very differant from the multi player one. Basically there is a lot of stuff removed from the MP one, that might be later on placed back in, once the average user has buffed up thier system....but thats all a wild guess as to what Raven will do there.
snaps is how often a snap shot of all objects in the map is taken, this includes volocity, health, ammo, and number of things. This should be at best equal to your fps, but since this cause increased load on the server limits have be put in place to help prevent abuse of the server. Normally a setting of 20 is fine, and increasing it to 40 which I believe is max shows little improvement, but there is improvement.
cl_maxpackets is how often data packets will be exchanged between client server, this also has limits because of being a WAN based game rather than a LAN, thus the more data sent, the bigger the bill will be for the server, so its been capped to prevent unneeded abuse. Setting of 30-40 yeild best results, but some improvement can be gotten from higher values provided the server has this allowed, but if you don't need it dont' use it, because the guy running the server will end up flipping the bill, and if he can't afford to run the server then it will come down.
rate normally server's set this to 8000 since the compression in the network code is very good and there is little need for much more. Again some improvement as you use higher setting provided your network connection can handle it, but generally nothing worth noting. Again this has more influce on the server's monthly bill than on your game, so if you don't need it or can't use it then don't.
Yes setting all these to thier max will still default to what the server has setup for limits other than whats hard coded in, but reguardless of whether or not the admin of that server has allowed you to use higher settings, keep in mind that he will be flipping the bill and if it costs to much it might get shelved.
Again none of those effect fram rate in the least, only your ability to correctly view other players as they transverse the game arena. |

Ok i wonder... how the #### can someone have over 125FPS? that's the max i set my fps to... so i'm almost all the time maxed out at 125 when i start playing... while in game with battle it goes from 125 to 60... So i wonder where to get 150fps or 200fps for that matter? is there a setting wich will allow more fps? I'm on a 10mbit connection so i could ahndle some more fps i think Also sometimes when i play on a server... i only get around 30 or 40fps? why is this? my ping is around 7 and all i get is 30fps? Also on my favorite server -|OBI|- , i get the good fps and there my ping is 60 ? So if ping does not have anything to do with fps in some way? what does? I got my graphic settings almost all very low, exept: gore detail = high shell ejection = yes fx quality = high sky = normal surface sprites = low geometric detail = low texture detail = low texture quality = default color depth = desktop default. compress textures = yes vertical synch = no =>>>> what the #### is this? my spefs? check my signature |
