Can someone please tell me how to get rid of this black and white grid?

did you screw with the pk3 files ?

if so reinstall and all should be fine

You can either download the wiser utility and get it to check the install or if you have it use winzip to open the pk3 and test it 'shift' + 't'

If either way comes up with an error copy across the file from the game CD's as mentioned in above topic

well actually he doesnt have to reinstall, hey digitel,

when you see the black and white grid its because some of your pk3's are corrupt, it happens sometimes.

clean off your cd's and copy all the pk3's from the sof2 discs into your base folder and overwrite the old ones. for some reason if you use the install it will corrupt your files, although not all the time. so just copy over the files and you should be fine.

you can use wiser if you want but all it does is check the file sizes to make sure they arent corrupt, which we already know they are.

they are algorithims that analyse a file and create a hash unique to that file. It is a highly accurate way to verify file integrity. You can liken it to the log function in math.
