how do i work the distance culling i got a map that has big walls and far apart and i dont wanna make them all close toget her cuz theres already stuff around the walls. So how dose the distance culling work? [confused]

i tryed puting 400000 it still wont work and i dont wanna add a fog to this map any ideas?

400000 is too big a number, your map would have to be huge to notice that. try putting distancecull with value of 4000 (or lower, depending on the size of the map) to see it work.

the way that distance culling works is that it does not draw anything after a certain distance away from the player. it is best to use fog as well because it hides the way that the stuff suddenly appears. you can alter the fog shader values until the pop-up is just hidden in the fog

You could also try turning most of your map into detail, that should atke care of most of your problem, by default it will already split it up on every 1024 unit block, so it "should" be fine, it's when you have alot of structual that it cuts the map to shreads... I woud recommend that you leave any large BLOCK's structural...

Yes that would work, BUT if you make almost everything detail then the lighting effects that you get with the gameplay wont look right, like gunfire lights on walls when you shoot.

just a thought.
