SOFII Gold

AthlonXP 1800+
Samsung 191T 19" LCD (<25ms)
ASUS A7N266-VM microATX mainboard
512MB CL2 Crucial DDR (2x256MB)
Gainward Ti4200 128MB (oc @ 300/500)
Detonator 43.51
Latest nFORCE drivers
ALL WinXP updates
DX9.0a
AGPMem reveals 128MB free

Problems:
1) Extremely slow framerates in all resolutions on the first level of the game even when there are only 2 men firing at me.  Frames average between low teens and 20s during firefight, and hit single digits quite often.  Considering this is only the first level of the game this does not bode well for later levels with (presumably) more demanding scenery.

2) Errors when trying to load certain sound-effects.  The standard pistol sound effect does not work at all.  Certain sound-effects generated by enemies show a visible error code onscreen when the system tries to initiate that effect.

3) I am NOT able to change some of the video options in the game, including resolution.  Instead of seeing a changable resolution number I see only the letters "hbr".  What in the #### does "hbr" stand for?  In order to change rez I have to go into the console and change it manually (r_mode 1-9 and then vid_restart).  This is, to put it mildly, a MAJOR pain in the a s s.

4) I used "wiser" and it says: "Some files are incorrectly installed.  Please consult the readme for assistance."  WHAT readme?  WHERE?  There are multiple readmes and none of them pertain to wiser.

I have multiple games and this is the ONLY game I currently have that is experiencing this many serious issues.  Framerates this low are simply not acceptable to me on a system like this.  Every other game I have runs reasonably well on this system.  All of the hints on the forum have been nice (appreciate the user/consumer input a bunch) but have, for the most part, been useless to me.  It seems that help from Raven on these issues is non-existent.  This is simply UNACCEPTABLE for a product that I paid $$$ for.  Are there any hard and fast fixes for these issues or am I going to have to return this game and tell the retailer to stick it where the sun don't shine (and think twice about ever buying anything from Raven again)?

Use the 40.72 driver

Files are corrupt. Reinstall.

Also maybe the game is corrupt. Reinstall the game.

Reinstall the game. If reinstalling doesn't work, copy all contents of the CD to the hard disk. Install from the hard disk. If that still doesn't work, maybe your CD is corrupt.

*sigh*
1 & 3

I'd say the frame rates are down to poorly configured card or bad driver install. this could also cause a problem with videomode selection in game

2 & 4
The readme for wiser is in the thread on this board with the link to it isClicky if you downloaded it from somewhere else it ain't Ravens fault if they didn't include the info :p

Anything you have OC'd put back to its normal settings
Use HD tools to check if for errors
