i understand what you're saying, but how is it possible that two players could have _different_ bullet spreads on the _same_ server, real-damage or otherwise.  Thats the bit thats bugging me.  :s9:

D@mn, I only asked what was wrong so that you can explain a bit clearer.... last time I stick my hand in to feed...

A modified config could cause these situations. Its a long shot, but I would say it IS possible.
If you can calculate the spread, which would be hard, then you can modify mouse/player movement in a script.

How did you manage to get the THEM pic of the pretty straight spread btw? I mean how did you get them to demonstrate - where they not sure about the problem too?

We all know that there is a difference in accuracy when you run/walk.
Is it possible that if you hold SHIFT down (ie walk mode) whilst standing still, the accuracy is better? Its a long shot, but that could be a bug... anyone wanna test it?

Also, one last thing, as with recoil, you can pull down on the mouse to minimise this effect. Again, it would be hard to do, but you could go left/right with the mouse to keep it straight???

Strange strange.. ???

It was funny actually, after the match it was just me and that guy left on the server...I suspected something wasnt right and asked if he had any recoil on his gun.  He replied "lol yes we have recoil".  I said prove it, and asked him to fire an entire clip into the wall without moving the mouse.  I then did exactly the same thing.  The screenshots are the results.  both have recoil but only one shows spread.  I asked him to explain the difference and he said it was because he had m_pitch=0.009.  That's horse sh!t

Interesting idea and i'll test it to make sure, (rofl if thats the case and its escaped my notice for 2 years  ) but i'm fairly certain the accuracy only changes on the press of a directional key ie. firstly whether you are moving or not, and secondly how fast you are moving. Toggling run/walk while stationary wouldn't come into it.

The Force - i'm still no clearer as to how two players can be on the same server with two different accuracy models for the weapons but bear with me i'm sure i'll understand eventually

cheers for your input guys its all appreciated :;):

hmm, maby it's the same thing as with shotgun. I mean when specing certain players their shotgun shot will leave only one hole on the wall, so it seems like no spread for the spectator but for the player, the spread is there.
edit: It had to do smth with the "impact prediction" option and I've seen it also when being in game.

I dont know about that bug...but in this case the bullet marks were noticeably different to both players, and there was no change in their appearance when going from spec to player mode or anything like that.

Bullet tragectory and damage is calculated server side so it is the same for all clients.

clients perception can be alterd with modified wpn/inview files, as client side prediction allows the player to see what it thinks they should, not what the server actualy sees, in most cases this would be roughly the same, unless the client and server are using different weapon files.

however it is just the view that is affected by this, there is no way to change what actualy happens to the suposid bullets, unless the server was alted.

ok Thanks for the response spike. But i still dont feel like i've had an explanation for the difference in bullet spread in the screenshots above.  I took both screenshots, and they were both on the same server.  Why does there APPEAR to be more spread to my bullets than there are with the other players, regardless of whether or not there actually is any REAL difference.  I didnt change any settings in any file, between the two screenshots being taken.

So far the most likely answer is that the server had a pk3 file installed which modifies the weapons for any client who also has this file.

Thanks for your patience  :;):
