Hi all... i hope you'll find a answer to my problem
I precise i'm in a LAN. 4PC connect to an HUB who is connected to an andere hub for ADSL.
I wanted to create a sof server. i do all (dedicated.cfg, ...)
All is good when i launch the game (i have set the target : "C:\Program Files\SOF Platinium\SoF.exe" +set dedicated 1)... my server set up and write "Soldier of fortune initializated"
Ok now i launch the game, i watch the MP screen and i can see my server (in ping cols: local) ! i can join the game and play (but sometimes it' laggy !!! i shot and there are some lag). but nobody can see my server ! only the personn who are in my network
I tryed to open port 28960, from 28911 to 28915, 28900 and all port but nothing !
Maybe it's in my dedicated.cfg file ? see it here
i have the last version of the game (1.07)
Please find an answer !!!

First of all you can not play in a dedicated server and not exspect lag.

If you do go on a dedicated server with the running system it can cause lag.

Hmmm okay thnx, but it's not the problem
Now i start my server with the console (exec dedicated.cfg) this file is my server setting. the result : no lag !
It's really a problem with the PORTS ! wich ports must i open ? or can i disable something ? wich setting must i use in my dedicated !
I want all people who want play can see my server !

The reason why it didnt lag was becuase you started it inside the game now if you would have left the game you would have quit the server so if you run a dedicated server you will lag down the server also if people download from the server it can start to drag the server down even worse if your inside your server and it is dedicated.

You also want to keep your movement on your computer to a minimum cause that can drag down the server also and cause it to lag even more but the worst is entering your own server when you have it as dedicated.

What you can do to reduse it even more when you want to play in it (your dedicated server) is the following :

Install the game again in a new directory so you have it installed twice two different directories.

Then create a shortcut from one of the installed sof's and make that your server runner then with the other installed sof you can create all the shortcuts you need to play in it (your server will have a reduced lag) so you could have one shotcut connecting straight into your server with your rcon already entered and you could have another with none of that kinda information entered in the shortcut target lind so you can enter other peoples servers.

If you do want to go into other peoples servers i recommend that you enter them with a fresh shortcut and not the one with all your information in it (rcon ect.).

For best results run the server on a complete different system that wont be used for anything and use another computer to run your programes playing the games or surfing the dangerous net ( lol ).

This has been doing my head in for days now, thanx NAS and others for help but still cant get the server seen outside local network
