my screen is coming down and turning black like every 2 sec it comes down like 2 inchs and has lines on the screen than goes back to normal....what could this be....could it be time for a new monitor or is it my win xp pro

there maybe many reasons. It cant be the monitor itself (but maybe it can) but i can all be from your system and graphics card. A new monitor may help but like i said many things matter in that case

Sounds like your monitor is going out.

You might TRY to move the monitor away from anything else (computers, televisions, etc) to make sure it's not getting interference from anything.
(Also, make sure it's plugged in securely.)

if you have access to another pc just hook up your monitor to it an check it out. if it does the same thing on another pc it's the monitor, if not, it's likely your vid card.

i wouldn't blame this on win xp... but make sure you have all latest updates just incase, and also drivers for video card.

If it started going out without changing absolutely anything, get a new monitor.  It does not sound like a gfx card failure (mine started and it was a gradual loss of fps and texture performance, a ti4200).  If you have, check your BIOS settings, careful in there, you can really screw stuff up, and check your settings under Control Panel | Display | Settings | Advanced.

do you have sof2minimizer????Cause my Cpu did the same thing when I downloaded that #$%#^ file. I deleted it, and the prob was gone. If you have sof2minimizer, thats the source of your prob.

Nothing wrong with the minimizer.  It's my best friend and I couldn't live without it.
