Can anyone please help. I've made a server for sof1 and people can join the game. However, after about 5 mins, one by one they disconnect or overflow. its very annoying as they connect back on just to be disconnected minutes later. I have a wireless cable router and I've changed that to allow games traffic. Any ideas?

There is many things that can cause an over flow.

what is your connection speed?

Is all the commands written in correctly in the dedicated file ?if it is a dedicated server i take it, it is.

If so try added this if you dont have they will help the server.
but may not stop


set maxrate 750
set zombietime 5
set com_maxfps 35
set cl_maxfps 35

//default is 4 but can allow more but i wouldnt.
set flood_msgs 4
set flood_persecond 4
set flood_waitdelay 10

set maxrate 750

That seems alittle low. I'm no expert by any means but the HEL DM 2 server has maxrate set to 6500. What exactly does this do? Also we have the zombietime set to 1. Again, what the heck is zombietime?

Btw the HEL DM 2 server runs on a OC-48 line ( whatever that is ).

Yes that is a bit low your right i just throw it up as an example of course you can modify it. i would say stick it to aroun 1000-1500.

Thanx for your help, however, i've still got problems. I still get the server up and running, and once again people come on and then disconnect after a short time. I've asked them afterwards what happened and they say they were kicked? The only person who doesnt is the one who shares my cable router and myself. I dont know the command for allocating bandwidth per player (or maybe I dont understand what all the commands mean when I type them in) Myconnection speed is 1 mg. Also what is maxrate?

Have you got autokick set up with it?

Now a router can cause alot of server problems some people cant even get one up with a router have you tried changing the router settings to allow connections?

Thanx for replying. i have changed the dmz  hosting on the router to allow games traffic. it lets people on fine. As for autokick, I wouldnt know the command. I've followed the dedicated server commands from the link you gave me a while ago. maybe I'm typing something in and dont realise?
