Why does my game consistently have a connection interrupts?

This only happens when im playing SOF2. Not with any other game.

I have a Nortel Networks ADSL modem and a Lynksis BEFSR41 router.
computer specs: P4 2.4 GHz, Geforce 4, 512MB RAM, audigy,

The game used to run fine, but within the last month i have been getting constantly disconnected.

What happens..(usually in this order)

1. Short connection interrupts where the Lagometer flashes the connection sign. After 5 seconds it comes back to normal.

2. About 10-20minutes later the same thing happens.

3. after about 30-60minutes from the first connection interrupt, my game will do 1 of 2 things. It will either lock up and never come back (but i can still talk on teamspeak, and IRC, and visit webpages) until i restart the game. Or it totally locks up the game, including internet access and teamspeak. (i have to reboot modem and router to fix)

Now i have been very patient, and love the game a lot! but after disconnection 2 times in a match yesterday im seeking answers.

All my phones have filters on them, and i dont have problems when playing any other games.

HOW CAN I FIX THIS???

Make sure you configure your router right, forward port 20100 to your local IP.  192.168.1.1 is the default IP, no username and pass = admin.  Advanced --> forwarding.  To find your local IP go to start | run | command.  Type: ipconfig.

Does this happen on all servers?

i've had the same problem for the last 2 weeks. no changes to my system, either hardware or software, then i start going 999 for 5 seconds at a time. test my net connection, besides a router problem in one area (not my router, at&t's which has since been fixed) all was well. have updated all drivers on my system. same problem.

Try searching the forums for Wiser2.  Maybe something is wrong with the installation?  (Could be a dirty CD...)

I was having connection problems too for the past month.
Called comcast like 8000 times, had 6 techs come out.
still nothing.
Same problems as u are having toad.
coudnt figure it out for the life of me.
So one day i was cleaning my room and i noticed the cable coming from my wall was under a bookshelf.
I pulled it out from underneath it , and saw that it had a crease in the cable.
Put a new cable on and bam! no more problems... lol

ive had this problem too.
it was during the attbi/comcast switch.
its been done, and no interruptions since.
it wouldnt be something wrong with the game. its most likely the internet. maybe your packets or something is too high and then it kind of "overloaded"?  ???  just guessing.

Yeah, see.
You've got all this data as 1's and 0's.
Now, the 0's slide through the cables real easy-like, but if you've got crimps or kinks in the cabling, the 1's can get stuck..and that slows everything down.
