BF1942 has the same travelled sound effect, I agree its neat-o. Have you guys tried the Desert Combat mod for BF1942? If not you're in for a treat. Just check out some of the screen shots taken of the upcoming 0.3 alpha release. Desert Combat Mod

When I finally got the thing it was like... bingo fuel and almost no armament at all. :/ I worked hard for the 15 minutes I flew that puppy around though, and it was worth every minute.

They fixed a lot of the net code issues in the 1.90 patch for resistance. they built a whole new netcode for the game and it is far superior. Plus it has more modded components than most games. (new guns, new vehicles etc.) look here
