My laptop keyboard will only let me press a couple buttons at the same time, but only when I do certain combinations of keys. The $5 Keytronics keyboard on my desktop works fine

It don't really have to do with cheapness, BUT it happens most often on cheap keyboards. The problem is that certain key presses "short" out the grid, and the n-key roll over problem.

yeah it depends on the keyboard. i have a ms office keyboard and i like it. i can press up to 4 keys, but then i do more and the computer beeps. on somebody elses memorex keyboard, i couldnt even press q and a together (lean left, sidestep out)

It depends on the keyboard matrix inside your keyboard. If you arent happy with the way yours works all you can do about it is buy a different one

IBM Rapid Access definitely. Key presses not too soft, not too loud, wrist rest in front, and shortcut keys to open programs easily, i.e. SoF2.
